By downloading, installing, copying, or otherwise using the Winbond HID CIR driver, 
you accept the terms in license agreement in WPC876xL_HIDCIR_EULA.txt file.

1. PACKAGE CONTENTS
   This zip file contains the following files and subdirectories:

   - winbondhidcir.inf             - The Driver information file
   - winbondhidcir.cat             - The Driver catalog file
   - i386\*.*                      - The Driver system files for the XP/Vista(TM) x32 platform
   - amd64\*.*                     - The Driver system files for the XP/Vista(TM) x64 platform
   - WPC876xL_HIDCIR_EULA.txt      - End User License Agreement
   - ReadMe.txt                    - This Release Letter

2. DESCRIPTION
   This product contains a driver to support CIR functionality for the WPC876xL.

   The WPC876xL HID CIR Driver is a 32/64-bit Windows XP/Vista-based Driver for the 
   Winbond WPC876xL CIR modules.

   The Windows-based driver is designed to work with the WPC876xL firmware, which
   implements Wake-Up support. See Section 3 for details.
   
   This driver is released in Beta quality for the WPC876xL chip.

3. REQUIREMENTS
    Operating System: 
	32/64-bit Windows XP/Vista.
    Hardware:
        A platform containing a Winbond Electronics WPC876xL device with 
        appropriate firmware and PnP BIOS.
        The WPC876xL firmware should support Wake-Up functionality, according to
        CEIR_MCE_FW_driver version 3.0.0. This firmware driver is provided in a
        separate package.
        For a detailed description of the firmware driver, see its documentation.

4. INSTALLING SOFTWARE COMPONENTS
   To install, extract the zip file to a directory of your choice on a system with 
   an on-board Winbond WPC876xL device.

   You must have administrator privileges to install/update the driver.

   When you boot Windows or select "scan for hardware changes" in Device Manager,
   a system with a WPC876xL PnP node prompts you with the "Found New Hardware"
   window. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the driver installation:

   For Windows Vista:
   1. Select "Locate and install driver software (recommended)"
   -> The "Found New Hardware - Unknown Device" window appears.
   2. Select "Browse my computer for driver software (advanced)"
   -> A dialog box appears for the path of the driver directory.
   3. Fill in the path of the Driver directory and press "Next".
   4. Press "Close".

   For Windows XP:
   1. Select "No, not this time" and press "Next".
   2. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and press "Next".
   3. Select "Search for the best driver in these locations", mark "Include this 
      location in the search" and fill in the path of the Driver directory and press "Next".
   4. Press "Finish".

6. FIXED ISSUES
   Driver reacted improperly to some IR transactions.
	
7. KNOWN ISSUES
   None.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
