Read Me - Zoom V.92 External Serial

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Make sure the Zoom modem is turned off.  If you are installing the modem for the first time, please refer to the modem's Quick Start or User Guide before continuing below.  

2. Open the "WinXPx64" folder and double-click on UIUSETUP.EXE.  

3. The Installation Wizard begins.  Click Next and then follow the on-screen prompts.    

4. You will get a message saying the software "has not passed Windows Logo testing."  You can click Continue Anyway and safely continue with the installation.

5. When this installation is complete, a confirmation window may appear listing the modem as FAILED.  Ignore this message and click OK.

6. Shut down your computer, turn the modem on, and then turn your computer back on.
    
7. The Found New Hardware Wizard appears, asking you to connect to Windows Update.  Select "No, not this time," and click Next.

8. Ignore the message regarding inserting an installation CD or floppy disk.  
Select "Install the software automatically (Recommended)," and click Next.

9. Another Windows Logo message appears.  Click Continue Anyway (this driver will not harm your computer). 

10. The Files Needed dialog box appears, saying "The file 'acfva.sys' on Modem Installation Disk is needed."  Click Browse, locate and select the "WinXPx64" folder, and then click Open.   

11. Click OK to close the Files Needed dialog box.  When the Found New Hardware Wizard is complete, click Finish.

To verify that the drivers have been installed successfully:
 a) Go to Start | Control Panel | Phone and Modem Options (or Network and Internet Connections and then Phone and Modem Options, if you are in Category View).
 b) Click the Modems tab.
 c) Click the Diagnostics tab.
 d) Click the Query Modem button.
 e) You should get a list of Commands and Responses. Scroll down to ATI3 and check that the response includes "Zoom."

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
