Read Me - Zoom V.92 External Serial Driver Version 1.32
	  Setup for Windows 2000/XP

** This setup is for Windows 2000/XP only. **



WINDOWS XP INSTRUCTIONS  (Windows 2000 instructions are below)

1. Make sure the Zoom modem is turned off.  If you are installing the modem for the first time, please refer to the modem's Quick Start or User Guide before continuing below.  

2. Please uninstall any old Zoom V.92 External Modem drivers:
 a) Close any open programs, including NetWaiting (right-click on the yellow telephone icon in the system tray and choose Exit).    
 b) Go to Start | All Programs | Zoom V.92 External Modem and select Uninstall Zoom V.92 External Modem.  Follow the on-screen prompts. 
   
3. Shut down your computer, turn the modem back on, and restart your computer.

4. Windows XP Service Pack 2 users:  You may be prompted to connect to Windows Update to search for software.  Select "No, not at this time," and click Next.

5. The Found New Hardware Wizard appears.  Disregard the message regarding the installation CD or floppy disk.  Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)," and click Next.

6. Now you will be prompted to choose your search and installation options.  Select "Search for a the best driver in these locations" and "Include this location in this search."

7. Click Browse, locate and select the "Win2000-XP" folder (which is inside the "ZoomV92Ext_WIN2000XP_Setup" folder), and click OK and then Next. 

8. You will get message saying the software has not passed Windows Logo testing.  You can click Continue Anyway and safely continue with the installation. 

9. When the installation is complete, click Finish and then restart your computer.

10. To verify that the drivers have been installed/updated successfully:
 a)  Go to Start | Control Panel | Phone and Modem Options (or Network and Internet Connections and then Phone and Modem Options, if you are in Category View).
 b) Click the Modems tab.
 c) Select Zoom External V92 Voice Faxmodem.
 d) Click Properties button.
 e) Click the Driver tab. 		
 f) The Driver Version should be 1.32.0.0.



WINDOWS 2000 INSTRUCTIONS 

1. Make sure the Zoom modem is turned off.  If you are installing the modem for the first time, please refer to the modem's Quick Start or User Guide before continuing below.  

2. Please uninstall any old Zoom V.92 External Modem drivers:
 a) Close any open programs, including NetWaiting (right-click on the yellow telephone icon in the system tray and choose Exit). 
 b) Go to Start | Programs | Zoom V.92 External Modem and select Uninstall Zoom V.92 External Modem.  Follow the on-screen prompts.   

3. Shut down your computer, turn the modem back on, and restart your computer.

4. The Found New Hardware wizard appears. Click Next.

5. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended)," and click Next.

6. Under Optional Search locations, make sure that only "Specify a location" is selected, and click Next.

7. Click Browse, locate and select the "Win2000-XP" folder (which is inside the "ZoomV92Ext_WIN2000XP_Setup" folder), and click Open and then OK.

8. Click Next.  If you get a message regarding a Microsoft digital signature, you can click Yes and safely continue with the installation.  

9. When the installation is complete, click Finish and then restart your computer.

10. To verify that the drivers have been installed/updated successfully:
 a) Go to Start | Settings| Control Panel | System.
 b) Click the Hardware tab.
 c) Click the Device Manager button.
 d) Click on the + (plus sign) next to Modems.
 e) Double-click on Zoom V92 External Voice Faxmodem.
 f) Click the Driver tab.		
 g) The Driver Version should be 1.32.0.0.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
