       1.0   Overview
       --------------
             This README provides information needed to install IBM eServer
              325 Advanced Systems Management Device Driver and its library
             that is used for management application to send in-band IPMI
             commands.

             1.1   About this code

                   This package contains the following files:
                   * IMBDRV.SYS  -- rev. 1.5
                   * MSISP6W.DLL -- rev. 1.5
                   * README.TXT


       2.0   Change History
       --------------------

             2.1   Version 1.4 to 1.5

                   Fixed a bug that OS/x64 will be hung if BMC card is not presented.

             2.2   Version 1.2 to 1.4

                   Fixed a bug that ASR functionality will be enabled while
                   bmc driver be launched.

                   To add version information into imbdrv.sys.

             2.3   Version 1.1 to 1.2

                   Re-Build for Windows 2003 Server.

             2.4   Version 1.00 to 1.1

                   Fixed a bug that may cause only one IPMI command can be
                   sent at a time when their library gets opened.

                   Enable the Automatic Server Restart feature automatically
                   when device driver is loaded into kernel.

             2.5   This is the initial release.


       3.0   Installation and Setup Instructions
       -----------------------------------------

             Note: The management application program must be stopped before
                   any of these service processor device drivers can be
                   installed. To install the software on Windows 2003 you
                   need to have administrator privileges.

                   If you want to install driver from Windows Device Manager,
                   please refer to section 3.4 and 3.5, but we strongly recommend
                   you should follow the section 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 by
                   installer-setup.exe with the best way to install, uninstall,
                   update and tune your driver coordinates with your system.

             3.1   By following the installation instructions shown below,
                   the correct System Management Device Driver will be
                   automatically installed onto your server.

                   * Open a Command prompt
                   * If installing from a diskette, type:
                     A:\Windows\SETUP
                   * If installing from a CD-ROM, type:
                     D:\DD\Windows\SETUP
                   * Follow the directions that appear on the screen.
                   * You must reboot the computer if the setup procedure
                     prompts you to do it.

             3.2   To unistall the System Management Device Driver, follow the
                   uninstallation instructions shown below

                   * Open a Command prompt
                   * If uninstalling from a diskette, type:
                     A:\Windows\SETUP -u
                   * If uninstalling from a CD-ROM, type:
                     D:\DD\Windows\SETUP -u
                   * Follow the directions that appear on the screen.
                   * You must reboot the computer if the setup procedure
                     prompts you to do it.

             3.3   By following the ASR's Timeout & PreTimeout Actions
                   instructions shown below, the correct Auto Server Restar
                   Service will be automatically installed into your server.

                   * If ASR Timeout Action need to be change, type:
                     -timeout [none|hardreset|poweroff|powercycle]
                     from AutoServerRestart Service/Properties/General/Start
                      Parameters

                   * If ASR Pre-Timeout Action need to be change, type:
                     -pretimeout [none|smi|nmi|msgint]
                     from AutoServerRestart Service/Properties/General/Start
                      Parameters

             3.4   First time to add a device driver from "Control Panel",
                   copy the installation files to a temporary directory, then
                   open the "Add Hardwae" to perform an install operation
                   as follows.

                   1) Open "Add Hardware" wizard from Control Panel under
                      system menu Start/Settings.
                   2) "Welcome to the Add Hardware Wizard" window will appear
                      , then just click "Next" to continue.
                   3) Wait for a while, "Is the hardware connected?" appear asking
                      "Have you already connected this hardware to your computer?"
                      , to select "Yes, I have already connected the hardware",
                      then click "Next" to continue.
                   4) A window will display "The following hardware is already
                      installed on your computer" will appear, then select the last
                      item "Add a new device" from installed hardware listbox,
                      then just click "Next" to continue.
                   5) "The wizard can help you install other hardware" will appear
                      asking "What do you want the wizard to do?".Select
                      "Insall the hardware that I manually select from a list(Advanced)",
                      and and click "Next" to continue.
                   6) "From the list below, select the type of hardware you are
                      installing" window will appear, then select "System device" from
                      "Common hardware types" listbox, and click "Next" to continue.
                   7) Click "Have disk" button to open "Install From Disk" window,
                      then click "Browser" to specified on your temporary directory,
                      and select IMB64DRV.INF, then click "OK" button to continue.
                   8) A window will display "Select the device drivers you want to
                      install for this hardware.", then select "MSI Intelligent Management
                      Bus Driver(AMD64)".
                   9) After click "Next", "The wizard is ready to install your hardware"
                      will appear, then click "Next" to continue.
                  10) A box will appear: "Completing the Add Hardware Wizard" with the
                      message shown "The following hardware was installed: MSI Intelligent
                      Management Bus Driver(AMD64)", then click "Finish" to end this
                      operation.

             3.5   To update the driver from "Device Manager", copy the
                   installation files to a temporary directory, then use the
                   "Device Manager" to perform an "Update Driver" operation
                   as follows.

                   1) Right-click on "My Computer" and select "Properties".
                   2) Select the "Hardware Tab" and click on the
                      "Device Manager" button. There should be a device section
                      named "System devices" with a "MSI Intelligent Management
                      Bus Driver" device.
                   3) Right-click on the "MSI Intelligent Management Bus Driver"
                      device, and click on "Update Driver".
                   4) "Welcome to the Hardware Update Wizard" window will appear
                      asking "Can windows connect to Windows Update to search
                      for software?".
                      Select "No, not at this time" and click "Next" to continue.
                   5) The message "What do you want the wizard to do?" will be shown.
                      Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)",
                      and click "Next" to continue.
                   6) Select "Search for the best driver in these locations", and
                      click "Browse".
                      Select the temporary directory containing the installation
                      files.
                      Click "OK" and click "Next".
                   7) A windows will display "Completing the Hardware Update Wizard"
                      reporting the installation of the "MSI Intelligent Management
                      Bus Driver(AMD64)".
                   8) Click "Have Disk", "Browse..." to the installation files and
                      click "OK".

       5.0   Unattended Mode
       -------------------------------
             The unattended method will install the drivers and accept
             default values for any screen prompts that would otherwise
             appear.

             There are 2 modes you can choose from: Quiet and Silent. The
             Quiet mode does not requires user input; the Silent mode
             is same as Quiet mode as well as no screen output at all.

             5.1   Steps for Quiet mode.
                   * Open a Command prompt
                   * If installing from a diskette, type:
                     A:\Windows\SETUP -q
                   * If installing from a CD-ROM, type:
                     D:\DD\Windows\SETUP -q

             5.2   Steps for Silent mode.
                   * Open a Command prompt
                   * If installing from a diskette, type:
                     A:\Windows\SETUP -n
                   * If installing from a CD-ROM, type:
                     D:\DD\Windows\SETUP -n

             5.3   When exiting, the setup routine will return an ERRORLEVEL
                   indicating the following condition:
                   * 0  Installed OK, no reboot required
                   * 1  Installed OK, reboot required
                   * 2  Install failed

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
