This is the v12.4 Drivers software CD release for all IBM Intel-based
Gigabit Ethernet Server solutions, including the latest PCI
Express Gigabit Ethernet Server Adapter Options for eServer System x.

The adapters supported include the following IBM eServer xSeries and
System x adapter option PNs:

1.0  Overview
_____________

This v12.4 software package is for all IBM Gigabit Ethernet and
Fast Ethernet Server solutions from Intel for System x Modular.

Note that, with this v12.4 sw release, PROSetDX and advanced server 
features, for Windows 2003 & 2008, when installed, will be a 
part of the Adapter Properties in Device Manager.

This sw release supports x86, x64, and AMD64.

All Microsoft Windows device drivers are MS digitally signed.

This released is based on Intel v12.4 TIC=00161076 software release.


1.1   Limitations
-----------------

Windows 2000 is not supported.
For Windows 2003, pick up the latest Service Pack available.
For windows 2008, pick up the latest Service Pack available.
For other OSes, pick up the latest service pack or fix pack.

Intel(R) I/OAT support, with 39Y6126, 39Y6136, and 42C1750, is limited 
to OSes that are IOAT capable, and systems that are IOAT capable.

This v12.4 sw release replaces all previous sw releases for IBM eServer System x
Intel-based Gigabit Ethernet Adapters.

3.0   Build and Installation Instructions
_________________________________________

The intc_dd_nic_12.4_windows_32-64.exe file is self-extracting and can
be executed under the Windows operating system.  This file will install and 
the configure the windows device driver.  

Note:  When extracting files, the drive capacity must be greater than the 
package size in order to extract properly.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
