IBM Automatic Server Restart (ASR) device driver is the Windows driver apply to
IBM Alishan M/B. By default, the ASR function on Alishan M/B is disabled. It is
activated only when the ASR driver is installed on the system.


IBM Automatic Server Restart device driver supports these Windows versions:

 - Windows Server 2003 Standard/Enterprise/Web Edition (32-bit)
 - Windows Server 2003 Standard/Enterprise/Web Edition (64-bit)
 - Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard/Enterprise Edition (32-bit)
 - Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard/Enterprise Edition (64-bit)
 - Windows Small Business Server 2003 SE/PE
 - Windows Server 2000
 

Driver Installation:

  - To install the driver on Windows Server 2003: 
    1. Double-click the 'Add Hardware' wizard in Control Panel. 
    2. At the 'Welcome to the Add Hardware Wizard', click 'Next'. 
    3. Select 'Yes, I have already connected the hardware' and then click 'Next'. 
    4. Select 'Add a new hardware device' from the list and then click 'Next'. 
    5. Select 'Install the hardware that I manually select from a list 
       (Advanced)' and then click 'Next'. 
    6. Select 'Show All Devices' from the list and then click 'Next'. 
    7. Click 'Have Disk'.
    8. At 'Copy manufacture's files from', point to the directory that contains 
       INF file and then click 'OK'.
    9. At 'Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware',
       click 'Next'.
   10. At 'The wizard is ready to install your hardware', click 'Next'. Make 
       sure the SYS file is copied under appropriate subdirectory (i386, 
       amd64). 
   11. Click Finish at 'Completing the Add Hardware Wizard'. 

  - To install the driver on Windows 2000: 
    1. Double-click the 'Add/Remove Hardware' wizard in Control Panel.
    2. At the 'Welcome to the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard', click 'Next'. 
    3. Select 'Add/Troubleshoot a device' and then click 'Next'. 
    4. Select 'Add a new device' from the list and then click 'Next'.
    5. Select 'No, I Want to Select the Hardware from a list' and then click
       'Next'.
    6. Select 'Other Devices' from the list and then click 'Next'. 
    7. Click 'Have Disk'.
    8. At 'Copy manufacture's files from', point to the directory that contains 
       INF file and then click 'OK'.
    9. At 'Select a Device Driver', click 'Next'.
   10. At 'Start Hardware Installation', click 'Next'. Make sure the SYS file 
       is copied under appropriate subdirectory (i386).
   11. Click Finish at 'Completing the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard'.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
