This causes the Avocent IPMI driver to produce a yellow bang under System devices. Whenever the RSA-II card is removed the yellow bang will go away, and the IPMI and BMC functionality will be restored. IBM eServer xSeries x206m IBM eServer xSeries x306m - The Avocent IPMI driver should not be removed using Windows Device Manager. Use "Add or Remove Programs" to remove the driver package. See section 2.4 for additional information. 1.3 Enhancements - none 1.4. Installing the driver implies the EULA is accepted. 2.0 Installation, Upgrade and Removal instructions _______________________________________ ****** NOTE ****** The Avocent IPMI driver name that appears in "Add or Remove Programs", has been changed back to its original name, "IPMI Driver". This is in response to some confusion caused by the first renaming, where the driver was identified as "IBM_msi_server". 2.1 Attended installation of the driver Open a command session and change directory to the location of Acovent's driver package. Launch the Avocent IPMI driver package executable osa_dd_ipmi_jap4xxa_winsrvr_32-64.exe where xx is the build version number. - Read through license agreement. If you wish to proceed with the driver installation then click the Accept button. - In the Update Driver window, select the Apply Update radio button and click the Next button. - When the process completes, click the Finish button. 2.2 Unattended installation of the driver Open a command session and enter the following command osa_dd_ipmi_jap4xxa_winsrvr_32-64.exe -s -a -s where xx is the build version number. If the Unattended installation command is issued from a program, then Avocent's installation package will return one of the following exit codes. 0 = success - no reboot needed 1 = success - reboot required 2 = install failure 3 = unsupported 4 = upgraded 2.3 Upgrading the driver The Avocent IPMI driver can be upgraded by following the installation instructions documented in sections 2.1 or 2.2 above. 2.4 Removing the driver The Avocent IPMI driver should be removed using the following steps. - Click Start\Settings\Control Panel\Add or Remove Programs - Select the entry "IBM_msi_server" or "IPMI Driver" (depending on the version you have installed) and click the Remove button. The Add or Remove Programs utility will prompt you to restart the system to complete the driver removal process. The Avocent IPMI driver should not be removed using Device Manager. Doing so only partially removes the driver, which prevents the installation of a new driver version or re-installation of the previously installed version. If an attempt has already been made to remove the driver using Device Manager, then follow the driver removal instructions listed above and reboot the system. 3.0 Web information and support phone number ________________________________________________ 3.1 IBM Support Web Site: http://www.ibm.com/support/.
