1.1 This package contains the IBM Remote Supervisor Adapter II (RSA II)
Daemon for IA32 Windows operating systems running on xSeries servers.
1.2 Limitations

1.5 Dependencies:
- Some xSeries servers require a mini USB cable to be connected
between the RSA II and a USB port on the xSeries server. Consult
your server's documentation to see if this is required on your
machine. Also make sure the RSA II is configured for "Other OS".
If either of these steps are not performed then the RSA II daemon
installation may fail. Refer to the RSA II Installation Guide and
RSA II User's Guide for additional information.
2.0 RSA II Hardware Configuration

2.1 Configuring the RSA II Hardware for Windows Before Windows is installed.
- Ideally, the RSA II hardware should be configured to "Other OS" prior
to installing a Windows operating system on your server. There are
two methods for doing this. Either approach will work.
- System Setup Method
- Boot the server and go into System Setup. This is usually done
by pressing the "F1" key at some point during the power-on
splash screen.
- When the Configuration/Setup Utility window is displayed, scroll
down to Advanced Setup and press Enter.
- In the Advanced Setup screen, scroll down to RSA II Settings and
press Enter.
- In the RSA II Settings screen, scroll down to the OS USB Selection
field and using the left and right arrow keys, change the selection
to Other OS.
- Highlight the Save Values and Reboot RSA II line and press Enter.
Do not omit this step or the RSA II will not be correctly configured.
- A pop-up window will appear indicating the RSA II settings have been
saved. Press Enter to continue.
- Press Escape twice to return to the Configuration/Utility Setup
screen, scroll down to the Save Settings line and press Enter.
Press Enter on the confirmation pop-up window.
- Highlight the Exit Setup line and press Enter. Press enter again
to confirm exiting System Setup.
- The RSA II is now properly configured for Windows and the server
will automatically reboot. Proceed with the installation of the
Windows operating system and refer to section 3 (below) when you
are ready to install the RSA II Daemon for Windows.
- Out Of Band (Remote Connection) Method
- Open a Web browser and in the address or URL field, type the IP
address or host name of the Remote Supervisor Adapter II.
- Type your user name and password in the Enter Network Password
window. The RSA II is set initially with a user name of USERID and
password of PASSW0RD (with a zero, not an O).
- Upon successful login, the Remote Supervisor Adapter II screen will
appear. Click the Continue button.
- In the panel on the left side of the page, click on System Settings
under the ASM Control heading.
- In the ASM Information section of the System Settings page is a
field entry for Host OS. Click the pull-down arrow and select "Other".
Scroll down to the bottom of the System Settings page and click the
Save button on right side of the window.
- In the panel on the left side of the page, click "Restart ASM" under
the ASM Control heading. When the Restart ASM page appears, click
the Restart button. Click OK or Yes on the confirmation popup that
appears.
- The browser connection will be lost when the RSA II is restarted,
but the adapter is now properly configured for Windows. Proceed
with the installation of the Windows operating system and refer to
section 3 (below) when you are ready to install the RSA II Daemon
for Windows.
2.2 Configuring the RSA II Hardware for Windows After Windows Has Been Installed.
- If the RSA II was not configured for "Other OS" at the time the
Windows operating system was installed, then the Windows Hardware
Wizard did not correctly identify the RSA II hardware and therefore
did not install a USB device driver for the RSA II's in-band interface.
Unless this is corrected, no in-band communication between the RSA II
hardware and management applications will occur.
- First you must change the RSA II's configuration to "Other OS" by
following the steps outlined in section 2.1 above. Then Windows must
rescan the RSA II hardware so the right USB device driver interface
will be established. The following steps describe how the rescan is
done.
1. Right-click on My Computer, select Properties, click the Hardware
tab and then click the Device Manager button. There should be a
"HID SYS" entry under the "Other devices" heading. If there is only
one HID SYS entry, go step 3.
2. If there is more than one HID SYS entry, perform a right-click\Properties
on the first HID SYS entry. In the HID SYS Properties window that
pops up, examine the Device Instance ID string. If the string starts
with the same character sequence as one of the two following strings
below, then you have found the RSA II device for which Windows needs
to update its driver for.

USB\VID_04B3&PID_4003
If the Device Instance ID string does not start with either of the
character sequences above, then cancel the HID SYS Properties window
and look at the next HID SYS entry. Once you have a match, cancel
the HID SYS Properties window and proceed to step 3.
3. Right-click the HID SYS entry and select "Update Driver". The
Windows Hardware Update Wizard will pop up and ask to connect to
Windows Update. Select "No, not this time" and click the Next button.
4. The next window, select "Install the software automatically (Recommended)"
and click the Next button.
5. The next window should indicate the wizard finished installing the
software for the USB Human Interface Device. Click the Finish button.
The RSA II's in-band interface now has a Windows USB device driver
interface assigned to it.
6. If you tried to install the RSA II Daemon while the RSA II card was
configured to "Linux OS" then all of the files have already been
installed and the RSA II Daemon should immediately start working.
If you did not install the RSA II Daemon yet, you can do so now.
3.0 Installation and Setup Instructions

3.1 Installation steps:
- Execute the RSA II package (where xx is the current build number of the
downloaded executable package).
ibm_svc_rsa2_hlp4xxa_winsrvr_i386.exe
- Follow the directions that appear on the screen.
3.2 Steps for unattended installation.
- run the RSA II package with parameters as shown (where xx is the current
build number of the downloaded executable package):
ibm_svc_rsa2_hlp4xxa_winsrvr_i386.exe -s -a -Q -X
If an application issues the above command (where xx is 16 or higher)
then the following values will be returned:
0 - Success, Reboot Required
2 - Install or update failure
16 - RSA II hardware found, USB driver not loaded
0xAB - Not applicable (RSA II not present)

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
