Phaser(R) 7300 PCL 5c printer driver

This readme file is a supplement to the printer's documentation.

This readme file contains basic driver installation instructions and 
information on the following topics:
  * Installing the PCL 5c printer driver

Installing the PCL 5c printer driver
-----------------
1) When you see the "Files Copied Successfully" message box, read the 
   message and click the "OK" button.
2) On the "Welcome to the Add Printer Wizard" box, click the "Next"
   button.
3) On the "Local or Network Printer" box:
   * If the printer is connected to your computer by a parallel or 
     USB cable, select "Local printer" and click the "Next" button. 
       NOTE: When running Windows XP, also select "Automatically detect
       and install my Plug and Play printer" before clicking the 
       "Next" button.
   * If the printer and your computer are on a network and you know the 
     IP address of the printer, select "Local printer" and click the 
     "Next" button. You can find the printer's IP address on the printer's 
     Startup Page or Configuration Page.
   * If your printer is available as a print queue on a server, select 
     "Network printer" and click the "Next" button. After making the appropriate 
     selections for the print queue and server, skip to step 9. If you are 
     unsure about the appropriate queue/server selections, contact your 
     network administrator.
4) On the "Select the Printer Port" box:
   * If you see the port for your printer connection in the list, highlight 
     it, click the "Next" button, then skip to step 9.
   * If the port for your printer connection is not in the list, select 
     "Create a new port", select the type of port, and click the "Next" button.
     If you selected "Standard TCP/IP port (recommended)" for the type of port,
     continue with step 5. If you selected Parallel or USB, skip to step 9.
5) On the "Welcome to the Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard" box, 
   read the message and click the "Next" button.
6) Enter the printer's DNS name or IP address, (if desired) change the port name, 
   and click the "Next" button. You can find The printer's IP address on the 
   printer's Startup Page or Configuration Page.
7) If the "Additional Port Information Required" box appears, select 
   "Standard" and "Generic Network Card", then click the "Next" button.
8) On the "Completing the Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard" box, 
   verify the information and click the "Finish" button.
9) When the Add Printer Wizard asks for the manufacturer and model of the 
   printer:
   9a) Highlight "Xerox" from the list of Manufacturers on the left. 
   9b) Highlight the appropriate Xerox Phaser 7300 PCL 5C entry for your 
       printer model from the list of Printers on the right.
   9c) Click the "Next" button.
10) On the "Use Existing Driver" box, select "Keep existing driver 
    (recommended)" and click the "Next" button.
11) On the "Name Your Printer" box, type the name that you want to use for 
    the printer, select whether you want to have it be the default printer, 
    and click the "Next" button.
12) On the "Printer Sharing" box, select whether to share the printer and 
    click the "Next" button.
13) On the "Print Test Page" box, select whether to print a test page and 
    click the "Next" button.
14) On the "Completing the Add Printer Wizard" box, verify the information 
    and click the "Finish" button.

Interactive Documentation CD-ROM are part of your printer shipment.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
