The file was built to be fully automated and will take effect immediately upon completion of the tape backup units reset after the firmware has been applied. 2.0 Change History This document describes the changes for the V64.0 release of VS80-DLT1 firmware since the release of V63.0. The firmware consists of control code that supports VS80. Enhancement: Due to end of life for the 3436 Read/Write component on the VS80, a design change was made to incorporate the current SDLT 220/320 Read/Write component. Firmware changes were required to implement this new component. Added new Read Write card distinction method for old versus new VS80 drives. This firmware will load to either version of the product, and will not load previous versions of firmware on the new drive. Early release of the Read Write PCB where Type 1 cards. The new card that is being release with this firmware is considered a Type 2 card. All Type 1 R/W cards will accept this firmware. Versions less than V64.0 will be rejected by Type 2 R/W Cards. 3.0 Installation and Setup Instructions This file is a self-extracting WinZip executable file that will self extract to the systems dedicated temporary directory and run via a batch file. A self-test and bus reset are performed at the end of the update and the device will then be again ready for use. 4.0 Configuration Information: The system must recognize that the device is available to the operating system to run either the firmware update or diagnostics. If the hardware cannot be found in Device Manger than the application layer utilized will not be able to preform it's operations. ------------------------------- 5.0 Web sites and phone support Information and assistance is available through the IBM Web site and by phone. 5.1 Web sites IBM Support Web Site: http://www.ibm.com/pc/support/ IBM eServer Web site: http://www.ibm.com/eserver/xseries/ IBM IntelliStation Web site: http://www.ibm.com/pc/intellistation/ 5.2 Software service and support -------------------------------- Through IBM Support Line, you can get telephone assistance, for a fee, with usage, configuration, and software problems with xSeries servers, IntelliStation workstations, and appliances.
