To Build a CD. - Download the "iso" image of the IBM xSeries 380 POST/FIRMWARE, from http://www.pc.ibm.com/support - Create a CD using instructions at following url: from http://www.pc.ibm.com/qtechinfo/MIGR-4NJNJB or other CD creation Applications. Note: To update the SDR records all files have to be on Read/write media, so copy all files from CD to the Hard Drive or LS120, and do the install. 2. To Build an LS-120 Diskette. - Download the 'zip' file of the IBM xSeries 380 POST/FIRMWARE, from http://www.pc.ibm.com/support - Expand the 'zip' files and copy all files to the LS-120. 3.2 Checking installed BIOS/FIRMWARE levels. 1. Boot to EFI Shell - Insert the LS-120 diskette or CD containing the BIOS/FIRMWARE utilities. - Type: map -r (Map's available devices) (find the file system (fsx:) defined to the specific media being used) Device:00 is LS-120, Device:FF is CD - Type: fsx: (fsx:=fs0:, or fs1:, or fs2:) - Type: load ipmi.efi (Load's ipmi driver) 2. To check the Firmware levels installed. - From the EFI prompt (shell>), type ‘fwupdate /fwversion’ to find the FIRMWARE versions. - Read the ‘Op code’ numbers of BMC, HSC and CBC. They are the current versions on the system. 3. To check the BIOS level installed. - From the EFI prompt (shell>), type ‘ver’ to find the BIOS version. - You will find the following string: S460AC4A.86B.XXXX.B.yymmddhhmm - The BIOS version number is the ‘XXXX’ from the above string. 4. To check the SDR level installed. - From the EFI prompt (shell>), type ‘FRUSDR -d sdr’ to find the SDR version. - The last SDR record will display the SDR version loaded on the system. 3.3 The procedure to update the BIOS/FIRMWARE is as follows: 1. Boot to EFI Shell - Insert the LS-120 diskette or CD containing the BIOS/FIRMWARE utilities. - Type: map -r (Map's available devices) (find the file system (fsx:) defined to the specific media being used) Device:00 is LS-120, Device:FF is CD - Type: fsx: (fsx:=fs0:, or fs1:, or fs2:) - Type: load ipmi.efi (Load's ipmi driver 2. To load BMC firmware release 29, Type: fwupdate lnbmc29.hex /upload 3. If needed: To load HSC firmware release 07, Type: fwupdate lonhsc07.hex /upload 4. If needed: To load CBC firmware release 02, Type: fwupdate loncbc02.hex /upload 5. To load BIOS 114, Type: iflash64 oemfw_114b.bin /update Note: To update the SDR records all these files have to be on Read/write media, so copy all files from CD to Hard Drive or LS120, and do the install. 6. To load SDR release 15, - From the EFI prompt, - Type: frusdr -cfg srcfg09.cfg - Type: 1 (Load SDR from file) - This will update the SDR records on the system to SDR 15. 7. Upgrade the B114 CMOS image by typing: cmosrw -wd cmos114b.bin 8. Once it is done, reset the system. Note: This procedure does not clear the password. - You will get "NVRAM cleared by Jumper" message. - Enter CMOS setup and set the date and time to current date and time if needed. - Save settings. System will automatically reboot to EFI. 4.0 WEB Sites and Support Phone Number ---------------------------------------- 4.1 IBM Support Web Site: http://www.pc.ibm.com/support 4.2 IBM Marketing eserver Web Site: http://www.ibm.com/eserver/xseries 4.3 If you have any questions about this update, or problems applying the update go to the following Help Center World Telephone Numbers URL: http://www.pc.ibm.com/qtechinfo/YAST-3P2QYL.html. 5.0 Trademarks and Notices ---------------------------- 5.1 IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation. 5.2 Intel is a registered trademark and Itanium is a registered trademark of Intel Corporation. 5.3 Microsoft is a registered trademark and Windows NT, Windows, are trademarks of Microsoft. 5.4 Novell and NetWare are registered trademarks of Novell.
