RELEASE NOTES FOR FWUPDATE UTILITY VERSION 1.01 A. CHANGES SINCE PREVIOUS VERSION 1.0 1. Added retries during a FW read to correct issue verifying HSC FW. 2. Corrected issue with loading IPMI driver from current directory. B. DEPENDENCIES 1. Executes under the EFI Shell ver 0.99 or greater. 2. Requires BIOS 69 or higher and BMC 14 or higher. 3. Help file "fwupdate.hlp" must be located in same directory as the program. C. HOW TO USE THIS UTILITY 1. Boot to EFI shell. 2. Copy FWUpdate.EFI, FWUpdate.HLP, IPMI.EFI and input HEX file to a floppy disk or HD. 3. Load the IPMI driver as follows load ipmi.efi 4. Command line Interface fwupdate [HEX File Name] [Options] a. To view the command-line help fwupdate /h b. To update boot block as well as operational block of the firmware from the command line interface: fwupdate [HEX File Name] /upload /bootena c. To update the operational block only from the command line interface: fwupdate [HEX File Name] /upload Note: Check the FW release notes for the FW release that you are updating. It may require updating both boot code and operational code. 5. GUI Interface fwupdate or fwupdate [HEX File Name] Use the arrow keys to browse through the menu and press the <Enter> key to select. A brief description of the selected menu item is displayed in the tip-view window. The tip-view window is displayed at the bottom of the screen. a. To upload firmware from the GUI interface, select "Update Flash", then select an option from its sub-menu to update boot code, op code, or both. b. To verify flash from the GUI interface, select "Verify Flash". 6. When updating the BMC firmware, this utility saves the configuration data maintained by the BMC before the firmware is updated. This data is then restored after the firmware is successfully updated. 7. Reboot the system after the update is completed successfully. D. KNOWN ISSUES 1. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
