Supporting Windows 98SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000, and Windows XP

Thank you for purchasing the Adaptec VideOh! PCI AVC-2010. This 
product allows you to convert your analog videos into digital
format and create your own Video CDs and DVDs.


Notes
=====
- Please refer to the User's Guide and the Adaptec Support
  Knowledgebase (ASK) at <http://ask.adaptec.com/> for general
  troubleshooting tips.

- Newer versions of the drivers and software may be posted on the
  Adaptec Web site as they are developed. For maximum performance and
  functionality, please update to the latest drivers and software as
  they become available. Go to <http://www.adaptec.com/support> for
  more information.

- Important — Your DVD player may not be compatible with all types of 
  DVD media (DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW). Refer to your DVD player's
  documentation for information on compatible DVD media types. 

- Adaptec recommends that you capture fast-motion video at the Better/Best
  quality setting.

   a. Captured file size matches file size reported during capture function.
   b. Constant audio volume during capture and record functions.
   c. Improved video quality when transcoding from MPEG-2 to MPEG-1. 


Documentation
=============
Much of our documentation is released in PDF format. To view
these documents you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 4 or
later installed on your system.  You can find a copy of this
software on the CD shipped with your product or you can download
the latest version from <http://www.adobe.com>.


Installation Procedure
======================
Please refer to the installation instructions below for your PC's
operating system.

For Windows 98SE
----------------

01) Double-click on the downloaded patch file. It will unpack the
    files into a folder.
02) Right click on My Computer desktop icon, select Properties
    and click the Device Manager tab.
03) Click on the '+' (plus) sign next to Sound, video and game
    controllers to expand the list.
04) Right click on Adaptec AVC-2010 PCI Device and select
    Properties.
05) Select the Driver Tab and click Update Driver.
06) When the Update Device Driver Wizard appears, click on Next.
07) Select the option to "Display a list of all the drivers in a
    specific location so you can select the driver you want" and
    click on Next.
08) Select "Have Disk" and use Browse to locate the update folder.
    Click OK to continue.
09) select the Adaptec AVC-2010 PCI Device and then click OK to
    continue.
10) Windows may prompt you to insert a disk, again use Browse to
    locate the update folder and click on OK to continue.
11) Windows may prompt that a file being copied is older than the
    file currently on your computer. Click No for all prompts.
12) Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation
    process.
13) It is recommended to reboot the PC after driver installation.
14) Locate the update folder and install the MyDVD update. Follow
    the instructions to complete the installation.

For Windows ME
--------------

01) Double-click on the downloaded patch file. It will unpack the
    files into a folder.
02) Right click on My Computer desktop icon, select Properties
    and click the Device Manager tab.
03) Click on the '+' (plus) sign next to Sound, video and game
    controllers to expand the list.
04) Right click on Adaptec AVC-2010 PCI Device and select
    Properties.
05) Select the Driver Tab and click Update Driver.
06) When the Update Device Driver Wizard appears, select "Specify
    the location of the driver (Advanced)" and click Next.
07) Select the "Specify a location:" checkbox and use Browse to
    locate the update folder. Click Next to continue.
08) Windows may prompt that a file being copied is older than the
    file currently on your computer. Click No for all prompts.
09) Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation
    process.
10) It is recommended to reboot the PC after driver installation.
11) Locate the update folder and install the MyDVD update. Follow
    the instructions to complete the installation.

For Windows 2000
----------------

01) Double-click on the downloaded patch file. It will unpack the
    files into a folder.
02) Right click on My Computer desktop icon, select Properties
    and click the Hardware tab. Then select Device Manager.
03) Click on the '+' (plus) sign next to Sound, video and game
    controllers to expand the list.
04) Right click on Adaptec AVC-2010 PCI Device and select
    Properties.
05) Select the Driver Tab and click Update Driver.
06) When the Update Device Driver Wizard appears click Next. Then
    select "Display a list of the known drivers for this device so
    that I can choose a specific driver", then click Next.
07) Select Have Disk and use Browse to locate the update folder.
    Click Ok to continue.
08) Choose the hardware model from the list and click Next to continue.
09) Windows may prompt that the drivers do not contain digital
    signatures. Click on Yes to continue the installtion process.
10) Click Finish to complete the driver update.
11) Locate the update folder and install the MyDVD update. Follow
    the instructions to complete the installation.

For Windows XP
--------------

01) Double-click on the downloaded patch file. It will unpack the
    files into a folder.
02) Right click on My Computer desktop icon, select Properties
    and click the Hardware tab. Then select Device Manager.
03) Click on the '+' (plus) sign next to Sound, video and game
    controllers to expand the list.
04) Right click on Adaptec AVC-2010 PCI Device and select
    Properties.
05) Select the Driver Tab and click Update Driver.
06) When the Hardware Device Driver Wizard appears select "Install
    from a list or specific location (Advanced)", then click Next.
07) Select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install", then
    click Next.
08) Select Have Disk and use Browse to locate the update folder.
    Click Next to continue.
09) Windows may prompt a message box on Windows Logo testing.
    Select Continue Anyway.
10) Click Finish to complete the driver update.
11) Locate the update folder and install the MyDVD update. Follow
    the instructions to complete the installation.


Video Editing Tips
==================
Use Sonic MyDVD to capture your videos onto your hard drive, trim 
your videos, and create VCDs and DVDs. Use ArcSoft ShowBiz to do 
advanced editing of your videos and add effects like transitions, 
titles, and music.


Known Issues
============

Installation
------------
- Uninstalling MyDVD will not uninstall ArcSoft ShowBiz. You must uninstall 
  ArcSoft ShowBiz separately, using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

- Windows Me users only - If ArcSoft ShowBiz does not install after MyDVD 
  installation is completed, uninstall MyDVD and re-install MyDVD again.


Previewing and Capturing of Video
----------------------------------
- If you are doing a long-term captures and you notice that the audio and video 
  are out of sync, Adaptec recommends that you do multiple shorter captures instead 
  of one long one.

- If you have problems previewing audio and video in the capture window,
  updating the video and/or audio drivers for your video card and/or audio 
  card might correct this issue. Check the manufacturer's Web site for driver
  updates for your video and/or audio card.


Editing Video and Burning of Media
----------------------------------
- When a clip is edited in ShowBiz and is brought to MyDVD, both ShowBiz 
  and MyDVD will be minimized and will appear in the Taskbar. To maximize 
  the MyDVD window, click on the MyDVD Taskbar item.
