    * Microsoft Windows 2000
    * Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
    * Linux (Kernel 2.4.11 and above)

                          Known Issues / Fixed Issues
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

-----------------------------------------
Microsoft Windows XP
-----------------------------------------

Known Issues
------------

* Controller background tasks such as consistency check, rebuild, background
initialization and MORE do not continue after a standby or hibernate
operation. A write to the drives is required to restart the background task.

* Unable to install the OS with SCSI CD-ROM attached to the controller.
While installing the OS using a CD-ROM connected to the controller on certain
systems such as the SuperMicro 370DLE, the installation will fail with
"No NTLDR" error. The proposed workaround is to use floppy method of
installation or using another adapter to attach the CD-ROM drive.

Fixed Issues
------------

-----------------------------------------
Microsoft Windows 2000
-----------------------------------------

Known Issues
------------

* Controller background tasks such as consistency check, rebuild, background
initialization and MORE do not continue after a standby or hibernate
operation. A write to the drives is required to restart the background task.

* Occasionally, the driver will give Timeout entries in event log when
formatting logical drives. This will not hurt the drive's format integrity.

* If attempting to install the OS with more than 8 logical drives with
"INT13 Scan" option enabled for all drives
    or
more than 2 logical drives with some logical drives having "INT13 Scan"
disabled, an error message of "Error (0x4, 0x1, 0, 0)" will occur during
Windows 2000 installation is encountered. This is an issue with the Windows
  2000 installation program.

The workaround is to have less than 3 logical drives or less than 8
Logical drives with "INT13 Scan" option enabled for all drives.

See the "View or Modify BIOS Options" section in the "Integrated Disk Array
Controller BIOS and Configuration Utility User Reference Guide (idacutil.pdf)"
for information on enabling/disabling the "INT13 Scan" on each logical drive.

-----------------------------------------
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
-----------------------------------------

Known Issues
------------

* NT 4.0 installation fails if the controller is used as a primary controller
  and having multiple logical drives.

When more than 1 logical drive is present during NT 4.0 installation, the
NT 4.0 setup program uses the wrong size for the first logical drive. Thus
the OS installation fails. This is a bug with the NT 4.0 Setup program.
This has been fixed in NT SP4 and greater. However, not all Installation CDs
have SP4 or later built in.

  The possible workaround/solution are:

  a. Create only 1 Logical Drive. Install the NT 4.0 OS. Then following
installation, create the rest of the logical drives.

  or

  b. If more than 1 Logical Drive is a necessity during the NT 4.0 OS
installation, the first logical drive has to be partitioned and formatted
with DOS. After formatting the first Logical Drive, the correct size is shown
and used by the NT 4.0 Setup program.

Linux
-----------------------------------------

Please see README.idac320 included in the Linux device driver g'zipped tar file
(idac320-x.y.z.tar.gz) for known issues and changes.

-----------------------------------------
Sun Solaris 8
-----------------------------------------

Known Issues
------------

* Installation using a CD-ROM drive connected to an AcceleRAID 400/500/600
does not currently work. To install Solaris 8 either use the bootable
install floppy or use the bootable CD-ROM in an ATAPI/IDE drive or
a drive connected to a SCSI Host Bus Adapter.

-----------------------------------------
Caldera OpenUnix 8/Caldera UnixWare 7.1.x
-----------------------------------------

Known Issues
------------

* It is not possible to create logical holes in a RAID configuration. Doing
so will result in all drives following the logical hole to not be enumerated
in OpenUnix/UnixWare. Data will not be lost, however, access to the drives
in OpenUnix/UnixWare will not be possible.

* Installation using a CD-ROM drive connected to an AcceleRAID 400/500/600
does not currently work. To install OpenUnix/UnixWare either use the
bootable install floppy or use the bootable CD-ROM in an ATAPI/IDE drive or
a drive connected to a SCSI Host Bus Adapter.

* There is an UnixWare 7.1.x issue that may occur when trying to install from
a floppy disk. This is an UnixWare issue that does not involve the iDAC320
driver. When trying to install the iDAC320 HBA Diskette, you may receive an
error on the virtual terminal, "Warning: FDC unexpected state," that will
prevent you from installing the iDAC320 driver from the floppy disk.
Currently, Caldera's solution is to lower your clock speed on your CPU to work
around the problem. More information about this problem can be found at
Caldera's website in reference to the patches ptf7082a and ptf7081a.

-----------------------------------------
Novell Netware 5.1/6.0
-----------------------------------------

Known Issues
------------

* Installation using a CD-ROM drive connected to an AcceleRAID 400/500/600
is currently problematic. If a problem is encountered use the bootable
CD-ROM in an ATAPI/IDE drive or a drive connected to a SCSI Host Bus Adapter.
