                      SMC 10/100 PC Card (SMC8041 V.2)
                   Windows Millennium Driver Installation

Windows ME provides a complete "Plug and Play" System that
automatically recognizes and configures SMC8041 V.2.

Before installing the SMC8041 V.2 adapter, Windows me's PCMCIA
service must be installed and enabled. This service can be started
   in the Control Panel.

Driver Installation Steps for Windows ME:

       1) Insert SMC8041 V.2 in one of the PCMCIA Slots and start
          Windows ME.

       2) The "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box appears. Select
"Specify the location of the driver (Advanced)", then click
          the "Next" button.

       3) Select "Specify a locations".

       4) Insert the SMC8041 V.2 driver disk in your drive (e.g. X:).
          Type "X:\WINME" and click OK.

Note: X: means the floppy or CD drive containing the drivers,
          such as: A:, B: or D: etc.

       5) The installation process copies all the required files to the
hard disk. Please wait for the process to finish.

       6) Click "Finish" to complete the installation process and reboot
          the machine.

   Note:

When Windows ME and the Network is up and running, it is not
recommended to remove the SMC8041 V.2 adapter from the PCMCIA slot
without telling the system first. Before you remove the adapter,
      please follow these steps:

      1) Double click on the My Computer icon, and then double click on
         the Control Panel icon.
      2) Double click on the PCMCIA icon. The "PC Card (PCMCIA) Properties"
         window appears.
      3) Select "SMC 10/100 PC Card (SMC8041 V.2)" from
the list, and then click the Stop button.
      4) Wait until the message box with the "You may safely remove the
         device" message appears. Click OK.
      5) Remove the SMC8041 V.2 adapter from the PCMCIA slot.

If you do not follow these steps and just pull the adapter from
the PCMCIA slot, the system may hang and you have to reboot the
      system.
