The driver (SMCEZ250.sys and SMCEZ251.sys) contained in the directory 
Drivers is for the following SMC Notebook Ethernet adapter:

        SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card

The driver (SMCEZ250.sys and SMCEZ251.sys) conforms to the Network 
Driver Interface Specification NDIS/5, SMCEZ250.sys is used with 
Microsoft Windows 98, Windows Millennium and Windows 2000. SMCEZ251.sys
is used with Windows XP.

(A) Installing the NDIS5 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 98
=================================================================

    1. Insert SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card into one of the 
       CardBus sockets of your notebook.
    2. Turn the power on, then boot from Windows 98.
    3. When Windows 98 prompts with "PCI Ethernet Controller" in
       "New Hardware Found" dialog box, click the "Next" button.
    4. Select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)"
       from the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, then click the
       "Next" button.
    5. Insert the SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card driver diskette in 
       your PC's drive.
    6. Select "Floppy disk drives" or "CD-ROM drives" and click
        "Next" button.  
        
        Notes:
        If you have the driver in a CD-ROM, please insert the CD-ROM,
        and select the "CD-ROM drives". If you have the driver in a 
        floppy disk, please insert the floppy disk, and select the
        "Floppy disk drives".   
        
    7. Windows will find the driver for the device, then click the "Next" 
       button in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box.  
    8. Windows 98 will copy the driver (SMCEZ250.sys) from CD-ROM to 
       the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
    9. When Windows prompts with "SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card"
       in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, click the "Finish" button.
   10. Remove the driver diskette from your PC's drive.
   11. Restart your computer to initialize the network function.

       NOTICE: C:\WINDOWS is the directory where your Windows 98
                O.S. is located.

(B) Configuring the NDIS5 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 98
====================================================================

    1. Click the "My Computer" icon in the Main Program Group.
    2. Click the "Control Panel" icon in the My Computer window.
    3. Click the "Network" icon in the Control Panel window.
    4. Select the "SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card" item from 
       the "Network" dialog box, then click the "Properties" button.
    5. Click the "Advanced" button in the "SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card
       Properties" dialog box.
    6. Click "Media Type" and select the Line Speed value (Auto,100full,100half,
       10full,10half) for the "Value" item, then click the OK button in the 
       "SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card Properties" dialog box.
    7. Click the OK button in the "Network" dialog box.
    8. Restart your computer to implement the new configuration.

(C) Installing the NDIS5 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows Me
=================================================================

    1. Insert SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card into one of the 
       CardBus sockets of your notebook.
    2. Turn the power on, then boot from Windows Millennium.
    3. When Windows Millennium prompts with "PCI Ethernet Controller" in
       "New Hardware Found" dialog box, click the "Next" button.
    4. Select "Specify the location of the driver(Advanced)"
       from the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, then click the
       "Next" button.
    5. Insert the SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card driver diskette in 
       your PC's drive.
    6. Select "Removable Media(Floppy, CD-ROM)" and click "Next" button.  
    7. Windows will find the driver for the device, the click the "Next" 
       button in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. 
    8. Windows Millennium will copy the driver (SMCEZ250.sys)
       from Floppy or CD-ROM drive to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
    9. When Windows prompts with "SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card"
       in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, click the "Finish" button.
   10. Remove the driver diskette from your PC's drive.
   11. Restart your computer to initialize the network function.
    
       NOTICE: C:\WINDOWS is the directory where your Windows ME
                O.S. is located.       
(D) Configuring the NDIS5 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows Me
==================================================================

    1. Click the "My Computer" icon in the Main Program Group.    
    2. Click the "Control Panel" icon in the My Computer window.    
    3. Click the "Network" icon in the Control Panel window.    
    4. Select the "SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card" item from 
       the "Network" dialog box, then click the "Properties" button.       
    5. Click the "Advanced" button in the " Microsoft(R) Notebook 
       Adapter MN-120 Properties" dialog box.       
    6. Select the Media Type value (AutoSense,100full,100half,10full,10half)
       for the "Value" item, then click the OK button in the " Microsoft(R) 
       Notebook Adapter MN-120" dialog box.       
    7. Click the OK button in the "Network" dialog box.    
    8. Restart your computer to implement the new configuration.

(E) Installing the NDIS5 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 2000
==================================================================

    1. Insert SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card into one of the 
       CardBus sockets of your notebook. 
    2. Turn the power on, then boot from Windows 2000.
    3. When Windows 2000 prompts with "PCI Ethernet Controller" in 
       "Found New Hardware" dialog box, in "Found New Hardware Wizard" 
       dialog box click the "Next" button.
    4. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device(recommended)" 
       from the "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, then click the
       "Next" button.
    5. Insert the SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card driver diskette in your 
       Floppy or CD-ROM drive.
    6. Select "Floppy disk drives" or "CD-ROM drives" and click
        "Next" button.  
        
        Notes:
        If you have the driver in a CD-ROM, please insert the CD-ROM,
        and select the "CD-ROM drives". If you have the driver in a 
        floppy disk, please insert the floppy disk, and select the
        "Floppy disk drives".   
    7. Windows will find a driver for the device, then click the "Next" 
       button in the "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box.
    8. Windows 2000 will copy the driver (SMCEZ250.sys) from diskette
       to the C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\Drivers directory.   
    9. When Windows prompts with "SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card"
       in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, click the "Finish" button.
   10. Remove the driver diskette from your PC's drive.

       NOTICE: C:\WINNT is the directory where your Windows 2000
                O.S. is located.
(F) Configuring the NDIS5 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 2000
====================================================================

    1. Click the "My Computer" icon in the Main Program Group.    
    2. Click the "Control Panel" icon in the My Computer window.    
    3. Click the "Network and Dial-up Connections" icon in the 
       Control Panel window.
    4. Right click the "Local Area Connection" and select the "properties".    
    5. Select the "SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card" item from the
       "Local Area Connection" dialog box, then click the "Configure" button.       
    6. Click the "Advanced" button in the "Microsoft(R) Notebook Adapter
       MN-120 Properties" dialog box.       
    7. Click Media Type Icon and select (AutoSense, 100full, 100half, 10full, 10half)
       for the "Value" item, then click the OK button in the " Microsoft(R)
       Notebook Adapter MN-120" dialog box.       
    8. Click the "OK" button in the "Network" dialog box.

(G) Installing the NDIS5 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows XP
================================================================

    1. Insert SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card into one of the 
       CardBus sockets of your notebook. 
    2. Turn the power on, then boot from Windows XP.
    3. When Windows XP prompts with "PCI Ethernet Controller" in "Found 
       New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, insert the SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 
       PC Card driver diskette in your PC's drive.
    4. Windows XP will search the driver and copy the driver (SMCEZ251.sys)
       from diskette to the C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\Drivers directory. 
    5. When Windows prompts with "SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card"
       in the "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, click the "Finish" button.
    6. Remove the driver diskette from your PC's drive. 
       NOTICE: C:\WINDOWS is the directory where your Windows XP
                O.S. is located.
(H) Configuring the NDIS5 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows XP
=================================================================

    1. Open the "Control Panel" from "Start" Menu.
    2. Click "Network and Internet Connections".    
    3. Click "Network Connections".          
    4. Right click the "Local Area Connection" icon with the
       name "SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card".    
    5. Click "Properties" in the pull-down menu.    
    6. Click "Config" button in the dialog box.    
    7. Click "Advanced" tab in the dialog box.    
    8. Click the "Media Type" and select the Line Speed value (AutoSense,
       100full,100half,10full,10half) for the "Value" item, then click the 
       "OK" button in the " SMC EZ CardBus-II 10/100 PC Card" dialog box.       
    9. Click the "OK" button to make the new configuration take effect.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
