The driver (SMC94X2.SYS) contained in the directory WIN2000 is for the following
SMC PCI Ethernet Adapter:

                 SMC EZ Card 1000 or
                 SMC EZ Card 1000 (SMC9452TX)

The driver (SMC94X2.SYS) conforms to the Network Driver Interface Specification
(NDIS) 5.0, and is used with Microsoft Windows 2000.

(A) Installing the NDIS5 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 2000

    1. Turn off your computer.   Insert the SMC9462TX/SMC9452TX in one of the
       PCI slots that support the PCI "Bus Master" mode in your machine.
    2. Connecting the RJ45 port of SMC9462TX/SMC9452TX to the network using a UTP cable
       (CAT5 cable for 100/1000Mbps,   CAT3/5 cable for 10Mbps network).
    3. Power on your computer.   Boot from Windows 2000.   Windows 2000
       will find a new 'PCI Ethernet Controller' and display the dialog box.
       Click the "Next" button.
    4. Select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)" in the
       'Add New Hardware Wizard' dialog box.  Click the "Next" button.
    5. Insert the SMC9462TX/SMC9452TX Driver Diskette in your floppy drive (e.g. A:\).
    6. Select "Specify a location".   Set driver Path to "A:\WIN2000" in the
       'Add New Hardware Wizard' dialog box.   Click the "Next" button.
    7. Click the "Next" button in the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' dialog box.
    8. Windows 2000 will display
       "SMC EZ Card 1000" or
       "SMC EZ Card 1000 (SMC9452TX)"
       in the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' dialog box.
    9. Click the "Next" button in the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' dialog box.
       Windows 2000 will copy the driver SMC94X2.SYS from A:\WIN2000
       to the C:\WINNT\SYSTEM directory and the SMC94X2.INF file from
       A:\WIN2000 to the C:\WINNT\INF directory.
   10. When Windows displays
       "SMC EZ Card 1000" or
       "SMC EZ Card 1000 (SMC9452TX)"
       in the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' dialog box.   Click the "Finish" button.
   11. Remove the SMC9462TX/SMC9452TX driver diskette from your floppy drive.
   12. Restart your computer to activate the network function.

       NOTICE!! C:\WINNT is the directory where your Windows 2000
                O.S. is located.

(B) Configuring the NDIS5 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 2000
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1. Right click the 'My Network Places' icon in the Main Program Group.
       Select "Properties" from the menu.
    2. Double click the 'Local Area Connection' icon.
       Click on the "Properties" button.
    3. Click the "Configure" button.
    4. Click the "Advanced" tab in the
       'SMC EZ Card 1000 Properties' or
       'SMC EZ Card 1000 (SMC9452TX) Properties'
       dialog box.
       1). Select "Media Type".
           Select a item (1) Auto Negotiate, 2) Auto 1000 Mbps,
           3) Auto 100 Mbps, 4) Auto 10 Mbps, 5) Force 100 Full,
           6) Force 100 Half, 7) Force 10 Full, 8) Force 10 Half)
           in the "Value" field (default value is 1) Auto Negotiate).
           Click the "OK" button.
       2). Select "Pause Control".
           Select a item (Disable, Tx pause frames, Rx pause frames, Enable)
           in the "Value" field (default value is Enable).
           Click the "OK" button.
       3). Select "Receive Buffers".
           Write a value (32 - 128) in the "Value" field (default value is 64).
           Click the "OK" button.
       4). Select "Packet Size (maximum)".
           Select a item (1) 1514 (Standard), 2) 4088, 3) 9014 (Alteon),
           4) 10000, 5) 16128)
           in the "Value" field (default value is 1) 1514 (Standard)).
           Click the "OK" button.
       5). Select "IEEE Compliant Link".
           Select a item (Enable, Disable) in the "Value" field (default value is Enable).
           Click the "OK" button.
       6). Select "Address".
           Write a new MAC address in the "Value" field (default value is NULL).
           Click the "OK" button.
       7). Select "Offload Checksum".
           Select a item (1) Tx Checksum, 2) Rx CheckSum, 3) All CheckSum, 4) None)
           in the "Value" field (default value is 1) Tx Checksum).
           Click the "OK" button.
       8). Select "VLAN ID".
           Write a value (0 - 4095) in the "Value" field (default value is NULL).
           Click the "OK" button.
    5. Click the "OK" button in the 'Advanced' tab.
    6. Click the "OK" button in the
       'SMC EZ Card 1000 Properties' or
       'SMC EZ Card 1000 (SMC9452TX) Properties'
       dialog box.
    7. Restart your computer to activate the new configuration.
