1. Install driver
   a)  untar the package using the command:
       ---> tar zxvf SMC_PCMCIA_WIRELESS_2632W-V2.tar.gz
   b)  cd SMC_PCMCIA_WIRELESS_2632W-V2
   c) ./setup.sh

2. Support 
   a)  Support RedHat 7.1, Redhat 7.2, Redhat 7.3
   b)  linux-kernel 2.4.17, 2.4.18

3. Module Parameters
--------------------
   You can configure the ATMEL 11Mbps PC Card by editing
   the config.opts located in the /etc/pcmcia directory.
   Change the parameters, whose default values aren't 
   those you want.

   i.e. if you want to connect to an access point named 
   WLAN just add in config.opts the following line
        module "fvnetr_cs" opts "ESSID=WLAN"

   The Parameters you can change and their default values 
   are:

   channel     :  1 - 14
      (default = 3)

   TxRate      :  0 ->   1Mbps
            	  1 ->   2Mbps
		  2 -> 5.5Mbps
		  3 ->  11Mbps
		  4 ->    Auto
      (default = 3 (11Mbps) )
	
   RTSThreshold :   1 - 2347
      (default = 2347)

   FragThreshold: 256 - 2346
      (default = 2346)

   OpMode       : 1 -> Ad-Hoc
	          2 -> Infrastructure
      (default = 2)

   ESSID	: ESSID to use (max 32 characters)
      (default = ANY)

   EncryptionLevel : 0 -> disable
   		     1 -> 64-bits	

   WepKeyToUse  : 0 -> WepKey1
	          1 -> WepKey2
		  2 -> WepKey3
		  3 -> WepKey4
		  4 -> None
		  (default = 4 (None) )			

   WepKey1      : maximum 5 bytes (must always be 2 characters/byte)
	
   WepKey2      : maximum 5 bytes (must always be 2 characters/byte)

   WepKey3      : maximum 5 bytes (must always be 2 characters/byte)

   WepKey4      : maximum 5 bytes (must always be 2 characters/byte)
      All WepKey's  are zero by default.

   WepMode      : 0 -> Mandatory
	          1 -> Optional
      (default = 0 (Mandatory) )

   AuthenticationType : 0 -> Open System
	                1 -> Shared Key
      (default = 0 (Open System) )
   PreambleType	   : 0 -> Long Preamble
	             1 -> Short Preamble
      (default = 0 (Long Preamble) )
      (In infrastructure mode PreambleType is autodetected).

   PwrMgmtMode	: 0 -> Active
	          1 -> Power Save
      (default = 0 (Active) )

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
