Introduction
============

This release package contains new firmware (v1.4i.4) the Management Utility 
Program (APMG v1.71) of SMC2655W Wireless Access Point (AP). Installation 
wizard of InstallShield could install the APMG Utility program easily.

bug fixed.

Operating System Support

The WLAN AP Manager program can be used in Windows 98, ME, NT4.0 (SP3 above)
and Windows 2000.

Limitations & Known Issues
==========================

AP Firmware:
-----------

- The AP firmware with version 1.4 or above can’t support the old hardware 
  T1.0, which embedded with the AP firmware version V1.3h (V1.3x series version).

- The AP supports the DHCP client function and it has been configured as the 
  default setting. If the AP power on the network without the DHCP server, then 
  the AP will work within the default IP address after approximate 20 seconds. 

- The AP can then be found via AP Manager after the AP starts with the IP Address.

- In wireless client, The AP Scan (discovery) function via AP Manager can’t be 
  used to find the associated/linked AP that is located in different IP subnet.

AP Manager:

- The AP is not reset in the case of the WEP Settings modification.
- The user can set the IP address of the Access Point with the arp –s 
  method only during the first 3 minutes from the moment it starts up
- Fix “ power LED Flash ‘ problem.

Add the number of supported SMC2655W Access Point up to 128 units

AP Firmware (V1.4h.9):
- Fix “password” problem, after the firmware upgrade but they cannot get 
  connected into the AP to change parameters unless the use the password 
  "Public". 
- Fix the “Loss connection” problem, the AP would drop the connection 
  of wireless clients after a couple of hours and the clients need to reboot 
  to connect AP again.

- Update the revision to 1.7
- Extend the Mac Address Filter table to 64.
- Add the feature “Backup Settings” and “Restore Settings” to/from a file. The 
  feature function didn’t contain the Encryption (WEP) settings because the 
  security concerns.

AP Firmware (V1.4g.7):
- Update the revision to 1.4g.7
- Fix the TCP/IP stack bug that will cause the AP to dynamically change its 
  IP address sometimes.
- Addition of the SSID broadcasting feature (i.e. Accept “ANY” SSID). This 
  feature function will enhance the security in the wireless LAN. If user 
  disabled this function, then the AP won’t respond the request of link while 
  the client using the NULL (ANY) SSID.

AP Manager (V1.6):
- Update the revision to 1.6
- Add the function <Accept “ANY” SSID> in AP setting page to support the “SSID 
  broadcasting feature” with APFW.
- Fine tuning the capability of discovery <Scan> the AP function to find 
  the multiple APs in the same LAN.

** 1.5 – June 18, 2001 **

AP Firmware (V1.4f.4):

Update the revision to 1.4f.4
- Fix the bug that AP will hang up both in Ethernet and Radio sometimes. 
  This is causing the code bug while handling the re-Association request 
  frame. The power circle is the only way to recover the AP.
- Fix the display bug in the “Subnet Mask” field. Now, AP will correctly 
  display the “Subnet Mask” which gets from the Ethernet (DHCP) server.
- Add the management feature via the Radio path. Now, the AP firmware will 
  respond the own BSSID clients’ “Scan” request via the wireless port 
  (Radio), if the client and AP have the same IP segment.

Update the revision to 1.4
- Add the On-line help.
- Force to rescan and renew the list table after all the modified commands, 
  which will cause the AP to have a reset. Such as, “Reset AP”, “Reload Default”, …
- Fix the bug, for supporting the previous version firmware V1.3, during 
  the connection and configuration.
- Support the MKK (Channel 1~14) regulation setting. Now, the APMG will 
  retrieve the MKK setting from AP firmware and display the available channel 
  setting in “Channel” field.

** 1.3 – May 11, 2001 **

- Fix the bug of cursor abnormal busy in the MAC Address Filter enable function.
- Fix the bug of RTS/CTS field setting (No check the error input by character)
- Fix the bug of “Apply” button can’t correctly enable, during the mode change, 
  under the tab of Encryption (WEP)
- Add the manual IP input dialogue for the remote connect and configure Access 
  Point feature via default gateway.
- Add the OS detection support for non-support operating system (Win95) 
  during the installation
- Add the “Wait.avi” to report the busy state during the AP reset.

- Add the correspondence fields support as the AP firmware V1.4. Such as, 
  AP Name, WEP 128, MAC Address filter, DHCP client switch option, Default 
  Gateway field, Password, Reload default.
- Add the Passphrase function support for WEP 64 bits and WEP 128 bits setting
- Force rescanning to renew the AP table after the modification of Access Point
