Section A: Version Naming Rule
==============================

There are two types of firmware release, formal and engineeer beta test version.

	Formal version : 
		X.Y0	X : number from 1,	Y : 0 - 9
		Example : V1.00, and V1.10

	Engineer Beta Test version :
		X.YZE	X : number from 0,	Y : 0 - 9,	Z : 0 - 9
		Example : V0.01E, V1.02E, or V1.14E

Section B: Upgrade Procedure
============================

1.  Turn on the router and plug it into your network adapter using port 1 through 4 on the router.

2.  Connect to the Web user interface by typing the Barricade's IP Address 
    (ex: 192.168.2.1)in your browser.Then login with the default user name 
    of "admin" and leave the password field blank.

3.  Click on the "Tools" link, then click the "Update Firmware" option. The "Update Firmware" screen will appear.

4.  Click the "Browse" button and point it to the location of the RunTime Code file(7004ABR_FW141008.dlf). 

5.  Next click "Start" button and follow the prompts. You will notice the lights on the Barricade 
    will react in a certain sequence.  Wait patiently while the Barricade performs the following 
    reboot sequence:

	a.  The power light will flash rapidly.
	b.  The link lights will come on solid. 
	c.  The Link lights will all turn off.
	d.  The Link lights that have a cable connected to them will turn on and blink rapidly.
	e.  The Link Lights will return to normal. 

6.  Your 7008ABR has now been successfully upgraded. Please log into the Barricade's management and 
    configure the router according to your type of connection.

           1. Allows entering dial-up number twice with "&" in the same field (ex:  5551212&5551212).
	   2. Adds day light saving feature at time zone page
           3. Changes the way of client filtering blocking time setting so that users can set
              start time greater than end time.
	   4. Fixes the bug that when modem mode is changed to WAN DHCP client mode Change mode 
 	      if users pull out modem line and plug in DHCP client cable , wan port can not connect.
	   5. Fixes the bug that at DHCP mode, when user click the release and renew too fast, 
              Barricade can’t generate default route.
           6. Fixes the bug that if Time zone setting is changed ,event log does not have correct time.
	   7. Fixes the bug that when DHCP server lease time is changed, the DHCP log will be clear.
	   8. Fixes the bug that if PPPoE server is shut down then started again, PPPoE client can not

           12. Fixes the bug that when changing Time zone will show an script error message. This only 
               happens for NT4.0,IE4.0.
	   13. In Setup/WAN/Dial-up Modem page, change "Auto backup" to "Auto-Backup".
           14. Fixes the bug that when users change mode between Modem and DHCP (or Fixed IP) mode very often, 
               and press disconnect on Modem page, system will crash.
           15. Sets the Modem default to dial tone mode.
           16. Fixes the bug that during factory reset process if users power off the device,
               then boot code will be destroyed.
           17. Fixes the bug that DNS does not check if socket was created successfully.
	   18. Fixes the bug that on Restore config page, if the user presses Start then presses Logout, 
               the web UI will hang up.
	   19. Fixes the bug that when connecting to Internet News server, like news.hinet.net or 
               news.seed.net, response is slow. This is becasue news server continues sending
               authentication packets but the gateway does not response. Now we let the gateway
               sends a RST packet to solve this problem.
	   20. Fixes the bug that when setting Time Zone function, if the user does not check ‘Enable Daylight 
               Saving? and ‘from .. to ..?  then click Enter, there is a error message appeared, which is
               "The type of data you entered is invalid". The user has to click ‘OK?4 times to go back
               Time zone setup page.
	   21. Fixes the bug that changing Time zone setting, security log will show future date :?106/02/05?
	   22. Fixes the bug that the user can’t set end date smaller than start date on day light saving.
	   23. Removes field checking on ISP phone number.
           24. Fixes the bug that WAN driver sends one more byte if the packet has odd length.
           25. Adds daylight saving function.
           26. Fixes the bug that on Client Filtering page the end time must be greater than start time.
           27. Fixes the bug that on Time zone page, if the user presses “Enter? an script error message
               is shown(NT4.0,IE4.0).
           28. Fixes the bug that DNS task does not check if socket open is successful.
	   29. Adds IPSec multi-connection.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
