The installation for the NDIS driver in Windows for Workgroups is menu
driven through the Windows interface.  The driver and other relevant
files are located in the WFW311 directory. The directory structure provided
on the driver diskette has been setup for automatic OEM installation. Follow
the guidelines in the Microsoft Windows for Workgroups  User's Guide for
more details to install the driver from the driver diskette.

 NDIS 3.0 Driver Installation for Windows for Workgroups v3.11
 =============================================================

 1.  In the Windows directory, run WIN.COM.

 2.  Insert the driver diskette into the system's floppy drive.

 3.  In the Windows for Workgroup 3.11 Program Manager, select
     <Network Setup> icon from the <Network> windows.

 4.  In the <Network Setup> dialog box, select the <Drivers...> button.

 5.  In the <Network Drivers> dialog box, select <Add Adapter> button.

 6.  In the <Add Network Adapter> dialog box, choose "Unlisted or Updated
     Network Adapter" from the menu and then select <OK>.

 7.  The <Install Driver> dialog box appears. Enter correct path of the
     driver (eg. A:\WFW311) and select <OK>.

 8.  The name of the adapter "Compex RE100TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter"
     is displayed, select the adapter that matches the hardware from
     the Adapter list.

 9.  The screen shows the default configuration. The driver may be set to a
     different configuration. Choose "OK" if all configuration settings are 
     correct.

 10. The NDIS driver will be copied into the Windows for Workgroup. All other
     necessary files are also copied from the Windows for Workgroup disk.

 11. The NDIS driver installation is completed. Choose <Restart Computer>
     to make the changes effective.

 12. The Windows for Workgroups is now ready to run with the adapter.


 Driver Parameters
 =================

  MEDIUM = AUTO
   Default is AUTO
   Other option AUTO, 10HALF, 10FULL, 100HALF, 100FULL

 This parameter force the card to a specific media connect mode.
 Default is N-Way auto-negotiation

 
  NETADDRESS= xxxxxxxxxxxx
   where xxxxxxxxxxxx are hex numbers
   value in hex

 This parameter overrides the network address of the network
 adapter card.  The value of this parameter is a hexadecimal string of
 13 digits, as in @008048nnnnnn.  The address must be unique among
 all other network adapter addresses on the network."


  ETHERID = xxxxxxxxxxxx
   where xxxxxxxxxxxx are hex numbers
   value in hex

 This parameter using multiple network adapter card.
 The value of this parameter is a hexadecimal string of
 13 digits, as in @008048nnnnnn.  The address must be unique among
 all other network adapter addresses on the network."
 

   BUSNO = 0
    default is 0
    range is 0-31
    value in decimal


  This parameter is the PCI BUS number to combined this adapter card.
  The value of this parameter is 0-31"
  

   DEVICENO = 0
    default is 0
    range is 0-255
    value in decimal

 This parameter is the PCI DEVICE number to combined this adapter card.
 The value of this parameter is 0-255."

  TXFIFO = 0
   default is 0
   range is 0-63
   value in decimal

 Specifies the early transmit threshold level in the Tx FiFo begin the
 transmission.
 The value of this parameter is 0-63 "

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
