How to install the Novell RPL server
1. You must create a boot diskette. The files on this boot diskette,
for example, are the followings:
COMMAND COM
LSL COM
CN650EP COM
IPXODI COM
NETX EXE
AUTOEXEC BAT
The AUTOEXEC.BAT file must contain these lines :
SET COMSPEC=F:\LOGIN\COMMAND.COM
LSL
CN650EP
IPXODI
NETX
NOTE: The contents of the diskette and AUTOEXEC.BAT file are depended
on your needs. The above is only an example.
2. Boot a workstation with at least one floppy disk drive, and log in to
the server as SUPERVISOR.(or ADMIN)
3. Change directory to SYS:SYSTEM
4. With the DOS boot diskette in driver A: execute the DOSGEN utility.
This creates a DOS boot image file named NET$DOS.SYS.
NOTE: Make sure the image file is created ok. Some floppy diskette is
fail to generate the NET$DOS.SYS, please change the diskette
and try again.
5. Copy NET$DOS.SYS to the SYS:LOGIN directory.
6. Copy RBOOT.RPL to the SYS:LOGIN directory. (only for Netware 3.11)
7. Copy RPL.NLM to the SYS:SYSTEM directory. (only for Netware 3.11)
NOTE: a. The RBOOT.RPL & RPL.NLM can be founded in the subdirectory
\BOOTROM\NETWARE of the CNet PowerNIC 650Eplus.
b. The Netware 3.12, 4.0x, 4.10 have bundled the above two files.
8. Copy COMMAND.COM to the SYS:LOGIN directory.
9. Add the RPL function for Netware Server
:load rpl
:bind rpl to CN650EP
NOTE: a. If you use another LAN card to create the Netware server,
change the name CN650EP to the specified name.
b. The frame type have to be binded to Ethernet_802.2
10. Configure the CNet PowerNIC 650Eplus to "Boot ROM Enable -> 16K"
with SETUP.EXE in CNet PowerNIC 650Eplus.
11. Reboot the workstation, remember to run CMOS setup. Let any drive
(C or D, A, B) setting to be "Not installed".
12. Now, when the file server is running, the workstation equipped with
Boot ROM on the CNet PowerNIC 650Eplus will be attached to the file
server without any hard disk or floppy.
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
