              How to install AX88140 Linux Driver

1. Download the driver from our web site: http://www.cnet.com.tw, 
   have the downloaded file as pro110b.zip on a floppy disk.

2. Login as root

3. Copy pro110b.zip into your linux system and unzip this file

      mcopy a:pro110b.zip
      unzip pro110b.zip
      rm -f pro110b.zip

4. Change mode of axgen

      chmod +x axgen

5. Execute AXGEN to make ax88140.o

      ./axgen

   Note for SlackWare distribution:
      If the <linux/modversions.h> does not exist, you could mask this line.

6. Copy the ax88140.o into modules' directory

      cp -p ax88140.o /lib/modules/2.0.XX/net/ax88140.o

   Where XX is your kernel version

7. For SlackWare distribution,
   add the following line into /etc/rc.d/rc.modules

      /sbin/modprobe ax88140

   For RedHat distribution,
   add/modify the following line into /etc/conf.modules

      alias eth0 ax88140

8. Reboot your linux system.

      sync; sync
      reboot

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
