If your computer uses an ECP parallel port configuration, it will not work with the Para Port 2. However, some computers, such as Toshiba, so allow you to change the parallel port to another configuration like bi-directional, which will work with the Para Port. The best way to determine parallel port compatibility is to run the file "runme" in the Utility directory on the Disk 1 of our Para Port driver set. If the Mode test fails, an ECP port configuration may be the problem. PARALLEL PORT CONFIGURATION FOR TOSHIBA LAP TOPS Cmos Setup Run cmos setup to change the parallel port to bi-directional. Dos Type "setup" at the dos prompt to initiate the utility that will allow you to reconfigure the port to bi-directional. WINDOWS Some Toshibas come with a program, that runs in Windows, called "hwutil." Execution of this program will permit reconfiguration of the printer port. Windows 95 1. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
