TOSHIBA SMS CONNECTION 2.04 INTRODUCTION SMS Connection is a utility, which will gather information about a client system's hardware configuration and make this information available to SMS. It accomplishes this by placing the hardware information in an SMS MIF file (called "[MACHINE_NAME].MIF") in a location where SMS will find and import the data. (This is usually in C:\WINDOWS\MS\SMS\NOIDMIFS or C:\MS\SMS\NOIDMIFS). The information provided to SMS will appear as an added SMS icon named "[MACHINE_NAME]". The information provided is extensive, and includes items such as processor type, chassis type, disk size, memory configuration, etc. SMS Connection requires that SMS has been installed on the target (client) system. If SMS has been installed on the client, the SMS Connection setup procedure will configure SMS Connection to automatically generate its MIF file output to the appropriate directory for the SMS server. If SMS has not been installed on the client, SMS Connection will generate its MIF file in its current directory (usually C:\Windows). SMS Connection program does not have a user interface. If SMS Connection encounters problems, it creates a log file which may contain useful information or error messages. This file is called SMSCONEC.LOG, and will usually appear in the Windows directory.
