Follow the wizard and give the path to the drivers. ===================================================================== 4.1 DCU-11 ===================================================================== To be able to get a connection between the Phone and the PC with the DCU-11 cable, you must configure the Mobile Phone Monitor to listen to the DCU-11 COM Port. 1. Go to the Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager 2. Open up the node Ports (COM & LPT), look which COM port the DCU-11 is connected to. Remember that COM port number. 3. In the Control Panel start the Phone Monitor Option. Select the COM Ports tab. 4. In the COM Ports list, make sure that the DCU-11 COM port is enabled. ===================================================================== 5. CONFIGURATION ===================================================================== ===================================================================== 5.1 SYNC SETTINGS ===================================================================== Before the first synchronisation, you have to configure the sync settings. You can choose which data types to sync: Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Notes. You also have the opportunity to set up rules for how the sync should handle conflicts and force a full sync instead of only synchronising updated posts. It is only possible to change "Sync Station Settings" while the phone is connected. If you try to change settings, by right clicking on the "Launcher" in the taskbar notification area, without the phone connected "Sync station Settings" will be greyed out. Behaviour for "Select last changed item" differs between data types. Synchronisation behaviour can be modified by selecting the "Standard synchronisation" tab in Sync Station Settings. Field matching between PIM and phone Several Personal Information Managers (PIM) are supported on the computer. We will use Microsoft Outlook 2003 as an example when describing field matching between PIM and phone. The phone can only support a limited amount of information, and in the list below we show which fields that are supported. There is also a limitation on field lengths in the phone, therefore long field names will be truncated when displayed in phone. PIM (Outlook 2003) Phone * Data type: Contacts First name: Name: (All characters up to Last name: first space is taken as first name in phone) Job title: Title: Company: Company: E-mail: E-mail: Web page address: Web address: Home phone: Home number: Business phone: Work number: Mobile phone: Mobile number: Business fax: Fax number: Other: Other number: Business Street: Street: Business City: City: Business State/Province: State: Business ZIP/Postal code: Zip code: Business Country/Region: Country: Description field: Info: * Data type: Calendar Subject: Subject: Location: Location: Start date & time: Start date & time: End date & time: End date & time: Reminder: Reminder: Recurrence: Recurrent appointment: Description field: Description: * Data type: Tasks Subject: Subject: Due date: Due date: Status: Status: (limited support in phone) Priority: Priority: Reminder: Reminder: Description field: Description: * Data type: Notes Note: Note: Full Synchronisation In Sync station Settings under tab "Full synchronisation" there is an option for "Merge items in computer and phone". Merge in this case means to add all items that don't match when comparing item by item between PIM and phone. It does not combine two similar items into one item. ===================================================================== 5.2 FIREWALLS ===================================================================== No issues. ===================================================================== 6. MODEM/GPRS USING IR (INFRARED) ===================================================================== ===================================================================== 6.1 WINDOWS 2000 OVER IRDA ===================================================================== You need Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 or later. The automatic installation of the infrared (IR) modem starts when you place your Sony Ericsson K500 mobile phone, with the infrared port enabled, in front of your PC's infrared eye. Although Windows will find your device and install the modem automatically, the properties of the modem may be incorrect. Check the properties in the Control Panel: 1. In the Control Panel: click on Phone and Modem Options, and select the modem tab. 2. Select the "Sony Ericsson K500 IrDA modem". 3. Click on Properties. If the modem is not correctly installed a dialog will appear containing a message similar to this: "The modem properties cannot be displayed because the modem information is corrupt. Remove this modem by clicking Remove and add it again." A workaround for this problem is to manually install the infrared modem: 1. Start the Modems application in the Control Panel. 2. Click "Add". A dialog "Install New Modem" will appear. 3. Select the option "Don't detect my modem, I will select it from a list". 4. Click Next. The next page shows a list of Manufacturers in the left pane. 5. Select "Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications". The right pane will display a list of the modems available. 6. Select the "Sony Ericsson K500 IrDA modem". (If the IR modem is not present in the list, click the "Have disk" button and Browse to the installation CD or folder which contains the modem drivers in its Driver directory.) 7. Click Next. 8. The new modem will appear in the Modems application. If you did not remove the incorrectly installed modem, the name of the new modem might have number suffix in its name (#2). Make a note of the name of the new modem since you should select this when creating a dial-up connection. ===================================================================== 6.3 WINDOWS XP OVER IRDA ===================================================================== The automatic installation of the infrared (IR) modem starts when you place your Sony Ericsson K500 mobile phone, with the infrared port enabled, in front of your PC's infrared eye. A known issue on is that a "Standard modem over IR" is installed instead of of the correct IR modem. To replace the "Standard modem over IR" with the Sony Ericsson K500 series modem, follow the steps described below. 1. Go to "Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Modems" where you will find a Standard modem over IR. 2. Double click the modem and choose "Driver -> Update Driver". 3. (If the IR modem is not present in the list, click the "Have disk" button and Browse to the installation CD or folder which contains the modem drivers in its Driver directory.) 6. Click "Finish".The modem is ready to use and you can run the Mobile Networking Wizard application. ===================================================================== 7. LIMITATIONS ===================================================================== --Synchronisation The total number of items supported in Sony Ericsson K500 series are: 510 phone numbers (Each Contact can have up to 5 phone numbers, 510 is the total amount of phone numbers) 300 Calendar items 80 Task 10 Notes If there are more data in the PIM than allowed in the phone, the synchronisation will complete successfully, but some items are not synchronised to the phone. It is a good rule to check the number of items in the phone from time to time to make sure that there is enough space for new items to be synchronised. Under "Conflict resolution" there is an option for "Select last changed item". This option is only applicable to data types Calendar and Tasks, for data types Contacts and Notes this option will actually result in "Automatically resolve conflicts - keep items in computer, override items in phone" since these data types does not support a last change date. --Sound Editor To be able to record from Audio Player in Sound Editor, the user needs to select one Source. Select Source from Audio Recorder, Recording Control is shown. In Recording Control, select Options -> Properties. Activate all option for the volume controls. Choose a Source to record from in Recording Control. The source to choose from depends on the Sound Card and the Operative System on your PC. ===================================================================== 8.
