Field matching between PIM and phone
Several Personal Information Managers (PIM) are supported on the
computer. We will use Microsoft Outlook 2003 as an example when
describing field matching between PIM and phone. The phone can only
support a limited amount of information, and in the list below we show
which fields that are supported. There is also a limitation on field
lengths in the phone, therefore long field names will be truncated
when displayed in the phone.

=====================================================================
8. MODEM/GPRS USING IR (INFRARED)
=====================================================================

=====================================================================
8.1 WINDOWS 2000 OVER IRDA
=====================================================================
You need Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 or later.

The automatic installation of the infrared (IR) modem starts when you
place your Sony Ericsson K750 or Sony Ericsson 750, with the infrared port enabled,
in front of your PC's infrared eye. Windows will find your device and install
the modem automatically.

=====================================================================
8.2 WINDOWS ME OVER IRDA
=====================================================================
The automatic installation of the infrared (IR) modem starts when you
place your Sony Ericsson K750 or Sony Ericsson 750, with the infrared port enabled,
in front of your PC's infrared eye. Although Windows will find your
device and install the modem automatically, the properties of the modem may be
incorrect.

Check the properties in the Control Panel:
1. In the Control Panel: click on Phone and Modem Options, and select
    the modem tab.
2. Select the "Sony Ericsson 750 IrDA modem".
3.  Click on Properties.
    If the modem is not correctly installed a dialog will appear
    containing a message similar to this:
    "The modem properties cannot be displayed because the modem
    information is corrupt. Remove this modem by clicking Remove and
    add it again."

A workaround for this problem is to manually install the infrared
modem:
1. Start the Modems application in the Control Panel.
2. Click "Add". A dialog "Install New Modem" will appear.
3. Select the option "Don't detect my modem, I will select it from a
    list".
4. Click Next. The next page shows a list of Manufacturers in the
    left pane.
5. Select "Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications".
    The right pane will display a list of the modems available.
6. Select the "Sony Ericsson 750 IrDA modem".
    (If the IR modem is not present in the list, click the "Have
    disk" button and Browse to the installation CD or folder which contains the
    modem drivers in its Modem Script directory.)
7.  Click Next.
8. The next page presents a list of ports in the lower pane. Select
    the "Virtual Infrared COM Port".
9. Click Next and the modem will be installed.
10. The new modem will appear in the Modems application. If you did
    not remove the incorrectly installed modem, the name of the new
    modem might have number suffix in its name (#2). Make a note
    of the name of the new modem since you should select this when
    creating a dial-up connection.

=====================================================================
8.3 WINDOWS XP OVER IRDA
=====================================================================
The automatic installation of the infrared (IR) modem starts when you
place your Sony Ericsson 750, with the infrared port enabled,
in front of your PC's infrared eye. A known issue on is that
a "Standard modem over IR" is installed instead of of the correct IR modem.
To replace the "Standard modem over IR" with the Sony Ericsson 750
modem, follow the steps described below.

1. Go to "Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager ->
    Modems" where you will find a Standard modem over IR.
2. Double click the modem and choose "Driver -> Update Driver".
3. Select the option "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)".
    Click "Next".
4. Select the option "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install".
    Click "Next".

9. LIMITATIONS
=====================================================================
Synchronisation

If there is more data in the PIM than allowed in the phone, the
synchronisation will complete successfully, but some items are not
synchronised to the phone. It is a good rule to check the
number of items in the phone from time to time to make sure that
there is enough space for new items to be synchronised.

Under "Settings -> Standard synchronisation -> Conflict policy" there
is an option "Select last modified item". This option is only applicable
to data types Calendar and Tasks, for data types Contacts and Notes this
option will actually result in "Select item from computer", since these
data types does not support a last changed date.
