mixed by Orson Teodoro (trypt0@yahoo.com)

copyrights of their respective owners.

About these mixed drivers

These drivers allow you to use your camera in AOL Instant Messenger and on MSN Messenger.
The newer reference driver aox401vc.sys, modification date Wednesday, February 21, 2001,
5:58:00 PM, combined with the reference AOX .inf file will not allow you to do this.

This driver set can be used on TWAIN, DirectDraw, Video for Windows (Vfw) software

Don't expect large performance gains or 100% compatibility from these drivers

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Requirements

AOX SE401 Based Camera / Kensington VideoCAM PC Camera Model #67014 or similar
Camera flashed with Firmware Revision >= 805 (Windows 2000 flash)

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Install Instructions

If you haven't flashed your camera with the new firmware then don't install this driver.
If you want to flash your camera, you need a Windows 98/95 box and the proper firmware
that supports Windows 2000/XP. This newer firmware will break compatability with Linux
driver so be aware. And a cautious warning, make sure you unplug all USB devices from
your computer except the camera when updating the firmware.

If you have already flashed this driver then go to the device manager and delete the
image driver first and then the USB driver in that order. After removing the driver.
unplug and replug the USB connection of your camera. A first PNP wizard window will
appear. This is necessary for the USB component. Do a manual installation and select
have disk. Make sure your source is the folder that contains these drivers. After
installing, another PNP wizard will appear. This is necessary for installation of the
image drivers for TWAIN, Vfw, and DirectShow. You will do a Manual Installation with
source pointed to the folder where you extracted the driver set. Expect an interruption
from the installation process for it will ask for a driver make sure you point it to the
source of where you extracted this driver. It's important you do manual installation and
point your sources to the correct folder to force the wizard to install this specific set
of drivers.

The following essential files have been used for driver mixing. Most have been taken
from the AOX reference driver and several from Kensington driver sources

It's pretty obvious that Kensington used AOX reference drivers and branded them, a common
practice of course.

I haven't tested the audio component so it's up to the community to mix these up

About the modified Kensington aox401vc.inf

The driver's inf (aox401vc.inf) file have been modified to use Aox's property sheets and
drivers by default. This is necessary for use to complete and pass the Audio/Video
wizard found in MSN Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger.

You can select either AOX or Hyandai one by uncommenting lines and doing the same for
the corresponding set.

; ISP_NOTE

Default Settings

I've included a registry file (.reg) that you can use to set defaults
The vaild ranges are as follows:

Video Contrast Default          [0, 512]
Video Brightness Default        [-128, -128]
AutoExposure Target Default [0, 255] AND AutoExposure Enable = 1
Video Hue Default               [-128, 128]
Video Sharpness Default [0, 255] AND Video Sharpness Enable = 1

LM-AOX-defaults.reg contains this information. Import this information in your windows
registry.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Bugs

In DirectShow if
	Color Space / Compression = RGB 24
the lower 1/3 of the picture will be only shown. To correct use Jangu Bayer Compression
(JBYR). In general just use JBYR Compression.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Hints

Disable auto exposure by unchecking the checkbox next to the slider for speed. You should
then proceed to and manually select your exposure level. Lowering the exposure level will
yield faster performance at the expense of lighting. Exposure setting is most taxing on
performance. You can help the camera by lowering the levels closer to 0 and by increase
lighting in front of the field of view of the camera with addition adjustments of the
brightness and contrast levels in the software.

Use the DirectX (DirectDraw) interface instead of the WDM drivers for slighly faster speed
if you can.

Combining the DirectX driver usage with exposure tweaks will give you close to smooth and
fluid framerates.
