Instructions for installing drivers for WIN98.

Download the zip file to your computer.

Remove the USB drive from the USB port.

Open the zip file and extract all the files to a directory on your hard drive.

The drivers can not be installed from inside the zip file.

Open the directory containing the new files.

Run the "install.bat" file.

The drivers will be installed in the operating system.

Close all programs and reboot the PC.

When the PC has booted to the desktop, insert the USB drive in to a spare USB port.

You may see the "New hardware Wizard" locating the drivers for the USB drive.

The wizard should complete the loading with out user intervention.

Open the "My Computer" window and you should now have an extra drive letter showing.

The drive should now be accessible.

If the drive is not showing, right click on the "my computer" icon on the desktop.

Select "properties" from the option menu and then the "Device Manager" tab.

If the drivers have failed to load or windows have tried to load the wrong driver for the device, you should see a icon with a yellow symbol to the left of it. Right click on this and again select "properties" from the option menu.

Select the "update driver" button and the "update driver wizard should now start. Click the "next button"

Select the "Display list of all drivers..." option and then the next button.

You should now be shown a list of what Windows thinks is the drivers for the device.
Click on the "Have Disk" button. From the "install from Disk" window, click on the "browse" button and point the explorer to the folder that you unzipped the files. The folder should contain an *.inf file. Make sure the *.inf file is showing in the "file name" box and then click "ok".

You should now be back at the "install from Disk" window, click "ok" and then click next on the "Update device Wizard" window.

Click next again and Windows will install the drivers.

Restart the PC. The USB drive should now work.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
