1. Description
--------------
  This archive contains RPM packages of the CCID device driver for the Gemplus CCID based devices, the PCSC-Lite daemon and the libusb v0.1.8.

          The libusb:
            * libusb-0.1.8-2.1.i386.rpm
            * libusb-debuginfo-0.1.8-2.1.i386.rpm
            * libusb-devel-0.1.8-2.1.i386.rpm

          The CCID device driver:
            * ccid-1.0.0-0.i386.rpm
            * ccid-debuginfo-1.0.0-0.i386.rpm

          The pcsc-lite:
            * pcsc-lite-1.2.9-0.beta5.1.i386.rpm
            * pcsc-lite-debuginfo-1.2.9-0.beta5.1.i386.rpm
            * pcsc-lite-devel-1.2.9-0.beta5.1.i386.rpm
            * pcsc-lite-libs-1.2.9-0.beta5.1.i386.rpm

  This archive contains the sources of the CCID device driver for the Gemplus CCID based devices and the PCSC-Lite daemon.

          The CCID device driver:
            * ccid.tar.gz

          The pcsc-lite:
            * pcsc-lite.tar.gz

  It requires:
    * A RedHat WS 3.0 platform based on a x86 processor architecture,
    * A Gemplus CCID based device

  If you intend to use this driver with a different configuration (such as a non x86 platform), please contact the support at the address indicated at the very end of this document.


2. Installation
-------------------------
  On the RedHat WS 3.0 distribution, firstly, you have to upgrade the libsub components as follow:
   [localhost@localdomain /path] # rpm -U libusb-0.1.8-2.1.i386.rpm libusb-debuginfo-0.1.8-2.1.i386.rpm libusb-devel-0.1.8-2.1.i386.rpm

  Then you can install the pcsc-lite daemon:
   [localhost@localdomain /path] # rpm -i pcsc-lite-1.2.9-0.beta5.1.i386.rpm pcsc-lite-debuginfo-1.2.9-0.beta5.1.i386.rpm pcsc-lite-devel-1.2.9-0.beta5.1.i386.rpm pcsc-lite-libs-1.2.9-0.beta5.1.i386.rpm

  Finally, you can install the CCID driver:
   [localhost@localdomain /path] # rpm -i ccid-1.0.0-0.i386.rpm ccid-debuginfo-1.0.0-0.i386.rpm

  The pcsc-lite daemon will start automatically during the next boot,

  Remark : If necessary you can also start it manually after the installation using the following command :
  [localhost@localdomain /etc/rc.d/init.d] # ./pcscd start

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
