Create a .sld file for use with XP Embedded Studio
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Create a directory (for example: C:\wdmaudio) and copy the following files into it:
-LXProp.DLL
-LXWDMAu.inf
-LXWDMAU.sys
2. Search for the most recent versions of the following files on the XPe build system. These
files will be located in C:\Windows Embedded Data\Repositories. There may be multiple versions
of these files found when searching, so be sure to select the ones with the most recent
timestamp. Once located, copy the most recent versions of the following files into the
directory created in Step 1.
-ks.inf
-wdmaudio.inf
3. Open Component Designer and navigate to File->Import
4. Navigate to the directory created in Step 1 and select LXWDMAu.inf (you will need to
change the "Files of Type:" list box from *.pmq to *.inf for the file to be visible).
5. At the "INF Processing Options" window, be sure that "Automatic" is selected and click OK.
6. At the "Import File" window, click on Start. When the import process is complete, click
Close.
7. In the left hand pane of Component Designer, navigate to:
-Components
-Advanced Micro Devices LX Audio Driver (WDM) [Version x.x.x, Rx]
8. Right click on the driver component and select "Set to Latest Revision".
9. In the left hand pane, navigate to Repositories.
10. Right click on Repositories and select "Add Repository".
11. In the right hand pane, change the repository name from "New Repository 1" to something
else, such as GeodeLX WDM Audio vX.X.X.
12. Click the Browse button to the right of Source Path and select the directory
created in Step 1.
13. In the left hand pane of Component Designer, navigate to:
-Components
-Advanced Micro Devices LX Audio Driver (WDM) [Version x.x.x, Rx]
14. In the right hand pane, click the "Repositories..." button. Select the repository created
in Steps 11 and 12 (for example: LX WDM vX.X.X).
15. Go to File->Save As and save the .sld file (by default this file will be saved as
LXWDMXe.sld. This is fine).
16. The LXWDMAu.sld is now ready to be imported into Component Database Manager.

Build for XPe:
--------------
1. Since the footprint may change for the component, recheck the dependancies
using the command "Configuration | Check Dependancies" or by pressing F5
from within Target Designer. This step should always be performed or the
image may not allow logins!
2. Build the configuration by using the command "Configuration | Build Target Image..."
or by pressing F7 from within Target Designer.
3. Download the target image to the target machine. This is target dependent,
but in general one connects the target's disk drive to the build machine,
and copies the files in the "Windows Embedded Images" folder to the target
drive. Note that this drive must have previously been prepared by running
"Bootprep" on it, or by installing Windows NT, Windows 2000 or Windows XP
on the target drive and deleting the visible files.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
A build machine is required, with a copy of Microsoft Embedded Studio installed on it.
1. If a previous version of this driver has been used, delete the repository from
under the "Windows Embedded Data" folder. To locate the exact folder to remove,
browse in the "Repositories" subfolder. A number of folders will be present, each
named with a GUID. These numbers are globally unique, so the exact folder name
cannot be listed here, and the only way to identify the exact folder is to examine
the contents. The folder in question will have six files: Gx3Prop.dll, Gx3WDMXe.inf,
Gx3WDMXe.sld, Gx3WDMAu.sys, ks.inf, and wdmaudio.inf. Delete the entire folder, it
will be replaced in a later step.
2. Import the component into Target Designer
* Copy the distribution files to a directory on the build machine.
* Make sure that no tools in Embedded Studio are running.
* Start the Component Database Manager, it should be running in Exclusive mode.
Check the title bar to verify the words "(Exclusive Mode)" are present.
* On the Database tab, press the "Import..." button
* Under "SLD File" enter the path to the distributed file "LXWDMAu.sld",
the "..." button will open an "Open" dialog box.
* Verify the checkbox "Copy Repository files to Repository Root" is checked
* Press the "Import" button at the bottom of the dialog. This should complete
without error. The most common error is failing to remove an old repository,
see step #1 above.
* Close the Component Database Manager
3. Add the component to a configuration
* Open an existing SLX file for the project. If one does not exist, one can
be obtained for the Geode reference platforms from National.
* Add the component by dragging "LX WDM" from
the catalog to the configuration.
* Consider adding additional components, such as Media Player.

If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
