Sample page: http://192.168.100.1/sample/ The above IP address (192.168.100.1) is the VB-C10/VB-C10R factory default setting. If you have changed the network settings, enter the actual IP address assigned to the VB-C10/VB-C10R to access the page. For more information, See Chapter 5 , "Creating Web Pages". ---------------------------------------------------- 3. Links from WebView World ---------------------------------------------------- If the VB-C10/VB-C10R is connected to the Internet and made publicly available to ordinary users, we would like you to contact us so that we can put in place a link from the WebView World web page. (Note that the link may be refused in some cases.) This should help to increase slightly the number of hits on the customer camera site. WebView World web page: URL: http://www.x-zone.canon.co.jp/WebView-E/index.htm [1] To Contact Us Regarding Links WebView World web page email address: webview@cis.canon.co.jp Provide the following information in your email message: - Company name: - Department name: - Name of supervisor: - Tel: - Email: - Customer web page address: http:// [2] Link Page from WebView World This forms a link to the page immediately before live video begins (eg. the page with the "View using Helper/View using Java" message). The aim of this is to avoid misleading ordinary users who follow the link from WebView World. More detailed arrangements will be confirmed by Canon management when you contact us regarding the link. ---------------------------------------------------- 4. Notes on Using the VB-C10/VB-C10R ---------------------------------------------------- This section explains some items that it is important to note when you are using the VB-C10/VB-C10R. The numbers in parentheses refer to the relevant pages in the manual. 1. Settings Pages (General) (1) Actions when changing the password (P. 3-9) Immediately after changing the password, you must enter the new administrator name or password again. You may have to enter the new password several times. This is due to the way the settings pages and the browser software operate and is not a fault. (2) Other notes on using the settings pages (P. 3-9 - P. 3-22) The settings pages consist of forms in which the current settings are embedded. If you use the [Back] and [Forward] buttons in your browser to move between pages, inconsistencies may arise between the settings shown in the browser and the actual settings on the VB-C10/VB-C10R. Always conclude operations in a settings page by clicking the [OK] or [Cancel] button in the top-right corner of the page. Also, never use multiple browsers to modify settings pages as this can result in erroneous settings. 2. Networks (1) Connection modifications for connection to a switching hub If the VB-C10/VB-C10R is connected to a switching hub and the connection is switched during operation, communication using the hub's learning function may no longer be possible. Do not change connections during operation. 3. Cameras (1) Notes on setting the camera parameters (P. 3-12 - P. 3-14) At startup, the available camera angles and visible range limitations vary depending on the Network Camera model. Refer to the manual for details. Fields left blank are assumed to be unspecified and those parameters cannot be initialized and the visible range limitations cannot be set. Also, because the visiblerange limitation setting takes priority over the camera angle setting at startup, for some visible range limitation settings it may not be possible toinitialize the unit as specified. (2) If you cannot control the camera (P. 3-12 - P. 3-14) If the camera is displaying the video image correctly but you cannot control the camera, check the visible range limitation setting since this can also prevent camera control. (3) Focus ode (P. 3-12) For shots that are unsuitable for auto focusing, such as low contrast subjects or scenery shot at night, the focus mode should be locked at the infinity setting. 4. Picture Recording and External Device I/O (1) Video Recording Function (P. 3-16 - P. 3-18) The VB-C10/VB-C10R records video images into volatile memory. These images are erased when power to the VB-C10/VB-C10R is turned off or the VB-C10/VB-C10R is restarted. In addition, the VB-C10/VB-C10R does not write video images over existing images. Once the available memory for recorded images becomes full, recording stops. Use the supplied VBCollector to retrieve (or delete) recorded images. To delete all recorded images, use the Erase Recorded Images feature on the Settings page in Administration Tools. (2) Pre-event picture recording using external device input (P. 3-16, P. 3-18) When pictures are recorded using an external device, pictures can be recorded that were shot prior to a change in the status of the external device. However, the camera and the camera angles used to take the shots before and after the event are normally different. If you want to ensure that the same camera and camera angle are used both before and after the event, you must take measures such as specifying the camera settings so as to prohibit camera control by users or so that the camera control functions themselves cannot be used. (3) Changing Schedule Settings (P. 3-17) Schedule-based video recording starts from the time the settings are made. 5. Caution when using Netscape 6.x (1) Access controliP. 3-19j Normal access may not be possible with Netscape 6.x. when the access control function is used with access restricted by User Name and Password. This problem, caused by JavaVM(JRE1.3.1), can be solved by installing JavaVM(JRE1.4.0). 6. Miscellaneous (1) Multilingual support on Web pages (P. 5-2) A slash (/) at the end of a URL can be replaced by a directory index and you can configure the index page so that the selected page is in the correct language for the browser language settings. For example, if both English and Japanese index pages are provided, create files with the following names: - English index page: index.htm - Japanese index page: index-ja.htm Normally, if files are created with names in the "index-XX.htm" format, the "index-XX.htm" index page is selected and displayed when the language "XX" is specified. Refer to the browser language settings for information on the "XX" tags. (Note: Only the first 2 characters of the language code are read. For example, no distinction is made between "en-GB" (for English/British) and "en-US" (for English/American). When 2 or more languages are specified, only the language specified first is used to determine the index page. All other languages are ignored.) (2) IP Installer (P. 3-3) When using IP Installer, the VB-C10/VB-C10R and the PC running IP Installer must be connected on the same network. If IP Installer does not display the target VB-C10/VB-C10R, check to see if a router or other device has not been installed between the network to which the VB-C10/VB-C10R is connected and the network to which the PC is connected. ---------------------------------------------------- 5. Notes on Using the Viewer ---------------------------------------------------- (1) Video images viewed on a viewer, even when saved or printed, may only be used for personal enjoyment. (2) When you are using the Java viewer to view video on Netscape Navigator, the browser restarts the Java applet when you resize the browser window. This cuts and then re-establishes the connection to the VB-C10/VB-C10R so that the video is paused until the VB-C10/VB-C10R is reconnected. (3) The camera control provided when you click in the viewer window is not particularly precise. (4) When images are captured using the Java viewer Snapshot button, there may a slight delay between the time the button is clicked and the time the image is captured. (5) You can specify that the Java viewer Capture button be hidden. Add the following line of code to the Java viewer page: < PARAM NAME = show_capture VALUE = "off"> ---------------------------------------------------- 6. Internal File System Details ---------------------------------------------------- The internal file system uses the following directories to store files: (1) sample directory The Web pages provided by the HTTP server are stored in the following directories: - sample Sample-page-related files - sample/glimpse Sample pages for Glimpse - sample/helper Sample pages for the Helper Viewer (WVH files) - sample/jssnap Interactive still image request page that uses JavaScript - sample/lvappl LiveApplet sample page - sample/others Live still images, 4-frame synthesis, Server Push - Other Sample top pages Substitute the sample web page files in your desired web pages. ---------------------------------------------------- 7.
