Before You Get Started

1. Introduction ------------------------------------------------------

  Thank you for using Canon MP Navigator.
  This application software allows you to scan, save and print photos
  and documents. You can also copy or send them via e-mail using this
  application.

2. Product Contents --------------------------------------------------

  This product includes the following items.

  Canon MP Navigator (hereafter called MP Navigator)
    This application software allows you to save, print, copy, or
    attach (e-mail) scanned images easily.

  Uninstaller
    This deletes unnecessary files related to MP Navigator.

  MP Navigator ReadMe (readme.txt)
    This file. It provides important information about MP Navigator.
    When you are finished with installation, select [Start]-
    [All Programs]-[Canon Utilities]-[MP Navigator 2.0]-
    [MP Navigator Readme] to display the contents of this file.

3. System Requirements -----------------------------------------------

  This product requires the following system and environment.

  Software (OS)
    Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (English)

    Note:
    - This product was created especially for Windows XP
      Professional x64 Edition. It does not operate on other Windows
      versions.
	   
  Hardware
    Computer  : Personal computer on which Windows XP
                Professional x64 Edition is installed
    Memory    : Must operate normally under the operating system
                used
    Hard disk : Free space of 30 MB or more is required at
                installation and free space of 50 MB or more is
                required during operation
    Display   : Screen area must be 800 x 600 or wider
                High color (16 bits) or better 

4. Deleting MP Navigator ---------------------------------------------

  To delete the unnecessary MP Navigator, follow the procedure below.

  1. Select [Start]-[All Programs]-[Canon Utilities]-
     [MP Navigator 2.0]-[MP Navigator Uninstall].

  2. When [Uninstall Confirmation] dialog box appears, click [Yes].

Restriction on Use of MP Navigator
======================================================================

The following restriction is placed on the use of this product.
Pay attention to this restriction before use.

  - The following features are not available 
    on Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.
      Print Album
      Edit photo images
      Convert to text file
      Open PDF file

  - After installing the on-screen manual from the CD-ROM supplied
    with this machine, you can display the manual by clicking 
    the [?] button on the MP Navigator screen. Select only the 
    on-screen manual on the installation screen and install it.

  - With film-scanning supported models, the film may not be scanned
    properly if [Auto] is selected for [Film Type] in the [Scan Film]
    screen.
    In such a case, click [Specify] and select the type of film to be
    scanned in [Film Type], and then perform a scan over again.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

• Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

• If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

• Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

• Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

• Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

• From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

• Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
