The BJ Printer Driver allows you to print on your Canon BJ printer from applications running on Microsoft (R) Windows (R) XP Professional x64 Edition. Before you can use your printer, you must install the printer driver on your computer. < Installation Components > The following components make up the installation package: - Installer (Setup.exe) Installs the BJ Printer Driver on your computer. - BJ Printer Driver (referred to as the "printer driver" in this document) Software that allows you to print on your printer. - Uninstaller Removes the printer driver from your computer. - Readme (readme_english.txt) This document. It contains important information about the printer driver. After you install the driver, you can display Readme by clicking the [Start] menu and selecting [Programs]-[Canon i9900]-[Readme]. < System Requirements > This software requires the following system configuration: Operating System Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (English) Note: - This printer driver was created especially for Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. It does not operate on other Windows versions. - We recommend that you keep your system up to date with Windows Update. Hardware Computer: Personal computer on which Windows XP Professional x64 Edition is installed Memory: Must operate normally under the operating system used. Hard drive: At least 100 MB free space prior to installing driver Interface: USB 2.0 Hi-Speed / USB interface Printer cable: USB cable Screen: Monitor with a resolution of 800x600 or higher Note: When using the USB 2.0 Hi-Speed connector, which is the upper one between connectors, on the printer, see your printer manual for details. < Deleting the Printer Driver > Delete the unnecessary printer driver according to the following procedure: 1. From the [Start] menu, select [Programs], and then select [Canon i9900]. 2. Click [Uninstall]. 3. If the [Confirm File Deletion] dialog box appears, click the [OK] button. Note: - If [Uninstall] is not found in the [Start] menu, delete the unnecessary printer driver according to the following procedure: 1) From the [Start] menu, select [Control Panel]-[Printers and Other Hardware]-[Printers and Faxes]. 2) Select a printer name to be deleted and select [Delete] from the [File] menu. 3) Select [Server Properties] from the [File] menu. 4) Click the [Drivers] tab. From the [Installed printer drivers] list, and select the printer driver to be deleted. 5) Click [Remove]. When the confirmation message appears, click [OK]. ==================================================================== Specifying Printer Driver Settings ==================================================================== < Opening the Printer Driver Setup Window > - Opening the window from your application The typical way to open the printer driver from your application is to select [File]-[Page Setup] and click [Printer], or select [File]-[Print...] and click [Properties]. - Opening the window directly To specify a regularly-used setup or to access your printer's maintenance functions, use the procedure below. 1) From the [Start] menu, select [Control Panel]-[Printers and Other Hardware]-[Printers and Faxes]. 2) Click the icon of the printer model to be used. 3) From the [File] menu, select [Printing Preferences]. Note: Do not change the settings on the [Advanced] tab, which is displayed when the printer driver setup screen is opened from [Properties]. If you change any of the settings, some of the functions may become disabled and you will not be able to use them. < Using the Printer Driver > When printing something with this printer driver, restrictions on what you can do sometimes apply. Keep the following points in mind when printing: - With certain applications, the [Copies] setting is non-effective when setting is attempted from the printer driver. In such cases, specify the setting in the applications' [Print] dialog box. - The following functions may not operate property with some applications. In that case, do not use these functions. - [Print "Cut/Paste" in margins] in the [Poster Printing] dialog box - All Stamp printing and Background printing functions - If the selected [Language] in the [About] dialog box does not match the operating system interface language, the driver screen may not be displayed properly. - Do not change the [Advanced] tab items of the printer properties. If you change any of the items, you will not be able use the following functions correctly. Also, if [Output to File] is selected in the [Print] dialog box of the application software and with applications that prohibit EMF spooling, such as Adobe PhotoShop LE and MS Photo Editor, the following functions will not operate. - [Preview before printing] on the [Main] tab - [Reduce spool data size] in the [Print Options] dialog box - [Page Layout Printing], [Poster Printing], [Booklet Printing], [Duplex Printing], [Reverse Order], and [Collate] on the [Page Setup] tab - All Stamp printing and Background printing functions - Since the resolution in the preview display differs from the printing resolution, text and lines in the preview display may appear different from the actual print result. - In some applications, the printing is divided into multiple jobs. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
