Specifying Printer Driver Settings
====================================================================

< Opening the Printer Driver Setup Window >

  - Opening the window from your application
The typical way to open the printer driver from your application
is to select [File]-[Page Setup] and click [Printer], or select
    [File]-[Print...] and click [Properties].

  - Opening the window directly
To specify a regularly-used setup or to access your printer's
maintenance functions, use the procedure below.

    1) From the [Start] menu, select [Control Panel]-[Printers and
       Other Hardware]-[Printers and Faxes].
    2) Click the icon of the printer model to be used.
    3) From the [File] menu, select [Printing Preferences].

     Note:
Do not change the settings on the [Advanced] tab, which is
displayed when the printer driver setup screen is opened
     from [Properties].
If you change any of the settings, some of the functions may
become disabled and you will not be able to use them.

< Using the Printer Driver >

When printing something with this printer driver, restrictions on
what you can do sometimes apply. Keep the following points in mind
when printing:

  - With certain applications, the [Copies] setting is non-effective
when setting is attempted from the printer driver. In such
cases, specify the setting in the applications' [Print] dialog
    box.

  - The following functions may not operate property with some
applications. In that case, do not use these functions.
    - [Print "Cut/Paste" in margins] in the [Poster Printing] dialog box
    - All Stamp printing and Background printing functions

  - If the selected [Language] in the [About] dialog box does not
match the operating system interface language, the driver screen
    may not be displayed properly.

  - Do not change the [Advanced] tab items of the printer properties.
If you change any of the items, you will not be able use the
    following functions correctly.
Also, if [Output to File] is selected in the [Print] dialog box of
the application software and with applications that prohibit EMF
spooling, such as Adobe PhotoShop LE and MS Photo Editor,
the following functions will not operate.
    - [Preview before printing] on the [Main] tab
    - [Reduce spool data size] in the [Print Options] dialog box
    - [Page Layout Printing], [Poster Printing], [Booklet Printing],
[Duplex Printing], [Reverse Order], and [Collate] on
      the [Page Setup] tab
    - All Stamp printing and Background printing functions

  - Since the resolution in the preview display differs from the
printing resolution, text and lines in the preview display may
appear different from the actual print result.

  - In some applications, the printing is divided into multiple
jobs. To prohibit printing, delete all divided jobs.

  - For details on functions related to Windows XP Professional x64
Edition, see the corresponding user's manual.
