Installation Procedure
======================

A.) Installation Driver for IBM LAN Support 1.3x
================================================

 1. Insert the LAN Support diskette into drive 'A'.

 2. Run the install program.

     A:\> DXMAID [Enter]

 3. The following message then appears:

     a. "Do you have driver diskettes?  [Yes]
        (You can press [Space] to switch between No and Yes.)

     b. After copying LAN Support, specify the drive and path of the DOS NDIS
        files reside.

         C:>\LSP [Enter]

     c. The installation procedure terminates after the necessary files are
        copied.

  4. Manual installation

     a. Copy the DM9PCI.DOS file to the directory where your IBM LAN Support
        program resides.

     b. Modify the NDIS device driver statement in the CONFIG.SYS as below:

         DEVICE = [drive]:\path\DM9PCI.DOS

     c. Modify the PROTOCOL.INI file as below:

         BINDINGS = DM9PCI_NIF
               :
               :
         [DM9PCI_NIF]
         DRIVERNAME = DM9PCI$
;       Drivername = DM9PCI$
;
;       SLOT =  1
;          This parameter specifies the slot number used for notifications.
;          For PCI slot , you can specify from 1 to 16.
;
;       MEDIA_TYPE = AUTODETECT
;       MEDIA_TYPE = FM_100M_FULL
;       MEDIA_TYPE = FM_100M_HALF
;       MEDIA_TYPE = FM_10M_FULL
;       MEDIA_TYPE = FM_10M_HALF
;       Note:
;          AUTODETECT    ; --> Auto detect the data rate and duplex mode
;          FM_100M_FULL  ; --> Forced 100M Full Duplex Mode
;          FM_100M_HALF  ; --> Forced 100M Half Duplex Mode
;          FM_10M_FULL   ; --> Forced 10M Full Duplex Mode
;          FM_10M_HALF   ; --> Forced 10M Half Duplex Mode
;
;          This parameter specifies the connector type configuration
;          (data rate and duplex mode) of the  network adapter card.


B.) Installation Driver for IBM LAN Services v4.x
=================================================

 1. Execute the installation program from the IBM DOS LAN SERVICES diskette.

     A:>\INSTALL.EXE

 2. From the "Network Card" field, select "Network card not shown in list 
    below...".

 3. Insert the driver diskette into drive 'A'.

 4. Specify the path for the corresponding OEMSETUP.INF file of the OEM driver
    intended for use.  Then, press <Enter>. The program then displays the
    driver name.

     A:\NDIS20\DOS

 5. Check that the driver configuration is correct or not.

 6. Complete the installation, restart your system to use the DOS LAN Services.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
