                    Bus Master EIDE/ATAPI Device Driver
                           for Intel PIIX(2/3/4)

                INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR WINDOWS NT4.0 

                             (January 10, 1997)

The following bus master device driver installation/de-installation procedure
is only for Windows NT Workstation 4.0. 
                                      
Before you begin the procedure, prepare a floopy diskette with all the driver
files copied under the root.


1.  INSTALLATION
    1.  Open My Computer
    2.  Open Control Panel
    3.  Open SCSI Adapters
    4.  Click "Drivers"
    5.  Select "IDE CD-ROM (ATAPI 1.2)/Dual-channel PCI IDE Controller" 
        and then click "Remove" to remove it
    6.  Click "Add..."
    7.  Click "Have Disk..."
    8.  Insert the floopy diskette into drive A:, then click "OK"
    9.  Select "PIIX Bus Master EIDE/ATAPI", then click "OK"
    10. Click "Continue"
    11. Click "Yes" to restart your computer to use the bus master driver


2.  DE-INSTALLATION
    1.  Open My Computer
    2.  Open Control Panel
    3.  Open SCSI Adapters
    4.  Click "Drivers"
    5.  Select "PIIX Bus Master EIDE/ATAPI" and then click "Remove"
        to remove it
    6.  Click "Add..."
    7.  Select "Standard Mass Storage Controllers" and
        then click "OK"
    8.  Click "Yes" to restart your computer to use the NT default driver


3. Re-Install Bus Master Driver
    1.  Open My Computer
    2.  Open Control Panel
    3.  Open SCSI Adapters
    4.  Click "Drivers"
    5.  Select "IDE CD-ROM (ATAPI 1.2)/Dual-channel PCI IDE Controller" 
        and then click "Remove" to remove it
    6.  Select "Additional Models"
    7.  Select "PIIX Bus Master EIDE/ATAPI", then click "OK"
    8.  Click "Yes" to restart your computer to use the bus master driver

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
