Introduction
============
JBIG Image Viewer is a software package that enables you to view image files 
in the JBIG format on your web browser. JBIG Image Viewer also enables you 
to save the displayed images in a different format. 
This README.TXT file contains the latest information and important notes 
about "JBIG Image Viewer". Please review this before using this software.

JBIG Image Viewer is confirmed to work in the following system environments: 

 - OS           Microsoft Windows 95/98
                Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0
                Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0
                Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
                Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
 - Web browser  Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later 
                Netscape Communicator/Navigator 4.04 or later

* To use JBIG Image Viewer, one of the above web browsers must be installed.

Using JBIG Image Viewer
=======================
1. Installing JBIG Image Viewer
   To install JBIG Image Viewer, run SETUP.EXE.

   * During installation, select the browser you use from the Select Web 
     Browser screen. 
     If you use both Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator/Navigator, 
     refer to the "Important Release Notes" below before installation.

2. Starting JBIG Image Viewer
   You can start JBIG Image Viewer with either of the following methods: 

    - Double-click an image file icon saved in the JBIG format (File 
      extension: JBIG or JBG), the web browser starts and the image is 
      displayed on the web browser.
    - Click a web page link saved in the JBIG format (File extension: JBIG 
      or JBG) and the image is displayed on the web browser.

3. Using JBIG Image Viewer
   When a JBIG image is displayed on the web browser in the above way, the 
   tool bar is also displayed above the image. You can control the image 
   using the tool bar. The tool bar has the following buttons starting from 
   the left: 

    - Save As:      saves the currently displayed image as another file. 
                    When the Save As dialog box appears, specify the 
                    location, file name and file type, and then click the 
                    Save button.
                    * The image file is saved in the direction and scale 
                      displayed.
     - Left:        turns the displayed image 90 degrees to the left.
     - Right:       turns the displayed image 90 degrees to the right.
     - Zoom In:     increases the image size in 10% increments.
     - Zoom Out:    decreases the image size in 10% increments.
     - Properties:  sets the default settings for displaying an image. When 
                    the Properties dialog box appears, specify the direction 
                    and scale. (The default settings are 0 for Direction and 
                    20% for Scale.)

   The tool bar menu also appears by right-clicking the image displayed on 
   the web browser.

4. Uninstalling JBIG Image Viewer
   To uninstall JBIG Image Viewer, select Settings from the Start menu, then 
   select Control Panels, and then double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
   Then, select JBIG Image Viewer from the list and click the Add/Remove 
   button. (For Windows 2000, click the Change/Remove button.)

   * If you installed two JBIG Image Viewers, one each for Internet Explorer 
     and Netscape Communicator/Navigator, refer to the "Important Release 
     Notes" below before uninstalling.

Important Release Notes
=======================
1. General Notes

  (1) When saving the displayed image as a file, the direction and scale 
      settings of the displayed image are used. 
      (Ex. When saving an image turned 90 degrees to the left and in 20% 
      scale, the image is saved in those settings.)

  (2) This software does not support layered JBIG format. If you display a 
      layered JBIG image, only the base layer is displayed.

2. Notes for users using both Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator/
   Navigator

  (1) If you installed two JBIG Image Viewers, one each for Internet 
      Explorer and Netscape Communicator/Navigator, follow the uninstalling 
      procedure below. If you do not uninstall the browsers in order, the 
      procedure may fail to properly remove all files and registered 
      information.

      1. Select Settings from the Start menu, select Control Panels, and 
         then double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. Then, select the 
         JBIG Image Viewer from the list below and click the Add/Remove 
         button.

         If you installed JBIG Image Viewer for Internet Explorer first: 
                   Select JBIG Image Viewer Plug-In.
         If you installed JBIG Image Viewer for Netscape Communicator/
         Navigator first:
                   Select JBIG Image Viewer Active-X.

      2. After the JBIG Image Viewer uninstallation is complete, repeat 
         step 1, select the JBIG Image Viewer not selected in step 1, and 
         click the Add/Remove button.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
