Cautions, Limitations and Restrictions
======================================
1. For Windows NT4.0, when using the Watermark function and printing from
CorelDRAW, Illustrator or Acrobat, more time is required to release the
application and complete the print job.
2. For Windows 2000/XP, the following occurs when outputting a print job to a
file using PageComposer.
- When specifying to output to a file in the Print dialog box of an
application, it is printed to the printer. The output file is created, but
its size is "0"bytes.
- When FILE is set for the output port in the Properties dialog box, it is
necessary to specify the output file 2 times. The first specified file is
"0" bytes in size, and the correct data is output to the second specified
file.
3. When printing Euro symbols, use TrueType fonts, or select Symbol when using
printer fonts.
4. When using the collate function of the application and Saddle Stitch is
specified for Booklet Printing, all paper will be sorted and saddle
stitched.
When using Saddle Stitch function for Booklet Printing, disable the collate
function of the application.
5. To speed up printing when iR6000/5000 is connected via a network, Binary is
recommended as the Data Protocol in the PS Options dialog box which is
displayed from the Configuration sheet (Windows 95/98/Me) or Device
Settings sheet (Windows NT4.0/2000/XP).
6. When Overlay Printing, use the overlay form whose size, orientation and Page
Layout is the same as those of the document you are going to print.
7. When creating a custom paper size in the Print Server Properties dialog box
of Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP, specify the margins as 4 millimeters.
8. When creating a overlay form file in one machine operating Windows
NT4.0/2000/XP, you cannot specify another machine operating Windows
NT4.0/2000/XP in the network as the place to save the new form file.
9. Specify a NetWare Server name or NDS tree name up to 15 characters.
10.For Windows 2000/XP when installing with Add Printer from the Printer
Folder, the Cannot find Digital Signature message may appear.
If this message appears, continue with the installation. The printer will
install correctly.
11.When you store a landscape document in the Mail Box of the printer, the
staple position displayed on the printer control panel differs from the
setting of the printer driver. Also, if you specify the staple position of
a landscape document stored in the Mail Box from the printer control panel,
the actual staple position of the output document may not correspond with
the orientation specified.
12.For Windows 95/98, the following may occur if a file is output to
PageComposer by selecting Edit and Preview for Output Destination when Glyph
Index is checked in the Detailed Settings dialog box that is displayed by
clicking the Details button in the Quality sheet.
The text of the preview image in the Print Preview, Change Print Settings or
Combine dialog boxes of PageComposer may display incorrectly.
If this occurs, enlarge the preview image in the Print Preview dialog box
to check the text.
13. For iR8500 and iR105 under Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP, when using booklet
printing with saddle stitch, the printed cover page loaded from Document
Insertion Unit may be attached upside down. If this occurs, put the cover
page in the Document Insertion Unit in the opposite direction.
14.If you select Print to file setting in the Print dialog box when printing a
document from Microsoft Word 2002, specify Disabled for Spooling at Host in
the Configuration sheet (Windows 95/98/Me) or Device Settings sheet (Windows
2000/XP) prior to printing.
15.When you select Paper Type for Select by in the Paper Source sheet, select
Same Paper for All Pages for Paper Selection if you want to use Tab Paper to
print a document. If you specify several different paper types to print each
pages of a document, the print out on the Tab Paper may not be correct.
16.When printing from Microsoft Word 2002 or Lotus 1-2-3 under Windows NT4.0,
Watermark settings in the Properties dialog box that is displayed by right-
clicking the Properties button in the Print dialog box may not work
correctly. In this case, specify the Watermark settings in advance in the
Printer Properties dialog box that can be accessed from the Printers folder
in the Control Panel.
17.When you select Auto or Disabled for Spooling at Host in the Configuration
sheet (Windows 95/98/Me) or Device Settings sheet (Windows 2000/XP),
the print out from Illustrator may not be correct.
In this case, open the Font Settings dialog box from the Configuration sheet
(Windows 95/98/Me) or Device Settings sheet (Windows 2000/XP),and then
download the printer font you want to use, or open the Detailed Settings
dialog box from the Quality sheet, and then select Always Send TrueType
Fonts for Substitution.
18. When using Terminal Service for Windows NT4.0/2000, or sharing Windows XP
by multiple users, it is not available to use the Job Accounting feature or
set up the printer configuration automatically.
19. When printing from QuarkXPress, the document may not be printed and blank
pages are output. In this case, select Disabled for Spooling at Host in the
Configuration sheet (Windows 95/98/Me) or Device Settings sheet (Windows
2000/XP).
20. Some applications send the PostScript command to the printer directly when
using the PostScript printer driver. For these applications, the following
functions may not be available.
- From the Page Setup sheet: Page Layout, Watermark, Manual Scaling
- From the Paper Source sheet: Paper Selection
- From the Quality sheet : Print as Negative Image, Print as Mirror Image
* For Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP, you can use the above functions when the
Spooling at Host setting in the Configuration or Device Settings sheet is
set to Enabled.
21. The printed output may not be correct when printing from applications
that use the ROP command, which is not supported by PostScript language.
For example, the printed results of grayscale printing for Micrografx
Designer or Word Art for Microsoft Word are incorrect.
For Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP, selecting Disabled for Spooling at Host in
the Configuration or Device Settings sheet may solve the problem.
22. When printing a document to which EPS objects are attached, the printed
output may not be correct.
For Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP, selecting Disabled for Spooling at Host in
the Configuration or Device Settings sheet may solve the problem.
23. For Window XP, it is necessary to use TCP/IP as a network protocol in order
to set up the printer configuration automatically when using a Remote
Desktop environment, or when Windows is shared by multiple users.
24. When inserting inserted sheets into the document, if you accidentally
specify a drawer that contains tab paper as the paper source for the
inserted sheets, the paper source automatically returns to the plain paper
setting.
25. When you print the Configuration Page in order to specify the Function
Version of the printer, the version name shown on the Configuration Page
may not available in the Device Function Settings dialog box that is
displayed by clicking the Function button in the Configuration sheet or
Device Settings sheet. In this case, select the latest version name from
the list of Function Version.
