For example: C:>MD \VINES USING GCS3000 (2) At the DOS prompt, copy the file GCS3000.DOS from \GCS3000\NDIS2\ on the Grey Cell Drivers Disk and PROTOCOL.INI from the same directory to the \VINES directory just created. (3) Copy the files from the VINES Master diskette into the \VINES directory. (4) Copy the NDIS driver files from \NDIS directory on the VINES LAN Drivers diskette into the \VINES directory. (5) Using an ASCII text editor, edit the CONFIG.SYS file to include the following lines: DEVICE=C:\VINES\PROTMAN.DOS /I:C:\VINES DEVICE=C:\VINES\GCS3000.DOS (6) Change to the \VINES directory. (7) Type PCCONFIG and select Network Card Settings, followed by NDIS Ethernet. (8) At the PROTOCOL.INI bindings prompt type MS$NE2CLONE. (9) Press F10 to save and Esc to return to the main menu. (10) Select Login Environment Settings, followed by Default Communications Driver, followed by NDIS Ethernet. USING NE2000 ( have to use CARD2.EXE or CARD2CS.EXE ) (2a) At the DOS prompt, copy the files CARD2.EXE (direct enabler) or CARD2CS.EXE ( client for Card & Socket Services) from the root directory of the Grey Cell Drivers Disk. Also copy the PROTOCOL.INI file from the \NE2000\NDIS2\ directory on the Drivers Disk to the \VINES directory just created. (3a) Copy the files from the VINES Master diskette into the \VINES directory. (4a) Copy the NDIS driver files from the directory on the VINES LAN Drivers diskette into the \VINES directory. (5a) Using an ASCII text editor, edit the CONFIG.SYS file to include the following lines: DEVICE=C:\VINES\PROTMAN.DOS /I:C:\VINES DEVICE=C:\VINES\CARD2(CS).EXE (if using Card & Socket Services) DEVICE=C:\VINES\NE2NDIS.DOS (6a) Change to the \VINES directory. (7a) Type PCCONFIG and select Network Card Settings, followed by NDIS Ethernet. (8a) At the PROTOCOL.INI bindings prompt type GCS2000_NIF. (9a) Press F10 to save and Esc to return to the main menu. (12) Reboot the PC. **************************************************************************** * * * DEC Pathworks Installation * * for Grey Cell System 3400 Series Fax/Modem/Ethernet Card * * * **************************************************************************** Installation Procedure for DEC Pathworks (version 4.1) Using GCS3000 or NE2000 ( have to use CARD2.EXE or CARD2CS.EXE ) (1) Run NETSETUP. (2) Choose Ethernet controller type and select "Other NDIS." (3) Choose "Other NDIS Information." (4) Insert the Grey Cell Drivers Disk into the A: drive. USING GCS3000 (5) When prompted for the path to the driver file, type A:\GCS3000\NDIS2\GCS3000.DOS (6) When prompted for the path to the PROTOCOL.INI file, type: A:\GCS3000\NDIS2\PROTOCOL.INI (7) Complete NETSETUP and return to the DOS prompt. (8) Goto step 10. USING NE2000 ( have to use CARD2.EXE or CARD2CS.EXE ) (5a) When prompted for the path to the driver file, type A:\NE2000\NDIS2\NE2NDIS.DOS (6a) When prompted for the path to the PROTOCOL.INI file, type: A:\NE2000\NDIS2\PROTOCOL.INI (7a) Complete NETSETUP and return to the DOS prompt. (8a) At the DOS prompt, use an ASCII text editor to open the CONFIG.SYS file and add the following line DEVICE=C:\[path]CARD2(CS).EXE ( if using Card & Socket Services ) immediately above the line DEVICE=C:\[path]NE2NDIS.DOS where [path] is the path to the directory containing the NE2NDIS.DOS file. (9a) Copy the file CARD2(CS).EXE from the root directory of the Grey Cell Drivers Disk to the directory containing the NE2NDIS.DOS file. (10) Reboot the PC. Note ----- If the keydisk being configured is in diskette drive A:, copy the files NE2NDIS.DOS and PROTOCOL.INI to another drive before configuring the keydisk with NETSETUP. Installation Procedure for DEC Pathworks (version 4.0) NDIS Driver Using GCS3000 or NE2000 ( have to use CARD2.EXE or CARD2CS.EXE ) (1) Run NETSETUP. (2) Select "Ethernet board." (3) Select "Other." (4) Select NDIS driver. (5) Insert the Grey Cell Drivers Disk into the A: drive. USING GCS3000 (6) Enter the path to the driver file as follows: A:\GCS3000\NDIS2\GCS3000.DOS (7) Select PROTOCOL.INI. (8) Enter the path to the PROTOCOL.INI file as follows: A:\GCS3000\NDIS2\PROTOCOL.INI (9) Complete NETSETUP and return to the DOS prompt. (10) Goto step 12. USING NE2000 ( have to use CARD2.EXE or CARD2CS.EXE ) (6a) Enter the path to the driver file as follows: A:\NE2000\NDIS2\NE2NDIS.DOS (7a) Select PROTOCOL.INI. (8a) Enter the path to the PROTOCOL.INI file as follows A:\NE2000\NDIS2\PROTOCOL.INI (9a) Complete NETSETUP and return to the DOS prompt. (10a) At the DOS prompt, use an ASCII text editor to open the CONFIG.SYS file and add the following line DEVICE=C:\[path]CARD2(CS).EXE ( if using Card & Socket Services ) immediately above the line DEVICE=C:\[path]NE2NDIS.DOS where [path] is the path to the directory containing the NE2NDIS.DOS file. (11a) Copy the file CARD2(CS).EXE from the root directory of the Grey Cell Drivers Disk to the directory containing the NE2NDIS.DOS file. (12) Reboot the PC. **************************************************************************** * * * FTP Software PC/TCP * * for Grey Cell System 3400 Series Fax/Modem/Ethernet Card * * * **************************************************************************** Installation Procedure for FTP Software PC/TCP Packet Driver Installation (1) Install PC/TCP software according to the directions given in the PC/TCP documentation. (2) When the installation is complete, copy the file CARD2(CS).EXE from the root directory of the Grey Cell Drivers Disk and the file NE2PD.COM from the \NE2000\PACKET directory on the Drivers Disk to the PC/TCP directory specified in the PC/TCP install procedures. (3) (This step not required for PC/TCP versions 2.10 and later.) Using an ASCII text editor, add the following lines to your CONFIG.SYS file: DEVICE=[path]IPCUST.SYS DEVICE=[path]IFCUST.SYS where [path] is the drive and directory specified at the PC/TCP installation. (4) Reboot the PC. (5) Change to the directory where your PC/TCP files are stored and run CARD2(CS).EXE, as follows: CARD2(CS).EXE ( if using Card & Socket Services ) (6) From the same directory, run NE2PD.COM. (7) Run the ETHDRV.EXE kernel program supplied with PC/TCP. This loads the PC/TCP kernel into memory. The packet driver must always load before the kernel. (8) Continue your server or workstation startup as instructed in the PC/TCP documentation. Installation Procedure for FTP Software PC/TCP NDIS Driver Using GCS3000 or NE2000 ( have to use CARD2.EXE or CARD2CS.EXE ) (1) Install PC/TCP software according to the directions given in the PC/TCP documentation. USING GCS3000 (2) Use an ASCII text editor to add the following lines to your CONFIG.SYS file: DEVICE = C:\NDIS\PROTMAN.SYS /I:C:\NDIS DEVICE = C:\NDIS\GCS3000.COM DEVICE = C:\NDIS\DIS_PKT.GUP (Include the following lines for PC/TCP versions earlier than 2.10 only) DEVICE = C:\PCTCP\IFCUST.SYS DEVICE = C:\PCTCP\IPCUST.SYS (3) Create a directory called \NDIS on your hard disk, as follows: MD \NDIS (4) Copy the files GCS3000.DOS and PROTOCOL.FTP from the \GCS3000\NDIS2\ directory on the Grey Cell Drivers Disk to the \NDIS directory you created in Step 3. (5) Rename the PROTOCOL.FTP file PROTOCOL.INI. (6) Copy all the files from the \NDIS directory on the FTP Unsupported Software Diskette A to the \NDIS directory you created in Step 3. USING NE2000 ( have to use CARD2.EXE or CARD2CS.EXE ) (2a) Use an ASCII text editor to add the following lines to your CONFIG.SYS file: DEVICE = C:\NDIS\PROTMAN.SYS /I:C:\NDIS DEVICE = C:\NDIS\CARD2(CS).EXE ( if using Card & Socket Services ) DEVICE = C:\NDIS\NE2NDIS.DOS DEVICE = C:\NDIS\DIS_PKT.GUP (Include the following lines for PC/TCP versions earlier than 2.10 only) DEVICE = C:\PCTCP\IFCUST.SYS DEVICE = C:\PCTCP\IPCUST.SYS (3a) Create a directory called \NDIS on your hard disk, as follows: MD \NDIS (4a) Copy the file CARD2(CS).EXE from the root directory of the Grey Cell Drivers Disk and the files NE2NDIS.DOS and PROTOCOL.FTP from the \NE2000\NDIS2 directory on the Grey Cell Drivers Disk to the \NDIS directory you created in Step 3. (5a) Rename the PROTOCOL.FTP file PROTOCOL.INI. (6a) Copy all the files from the \NDIS directory on the FTP Unsupported Software Diskette A to the \NDIS directory you created in Step 3. (7) Reboot the PC. (8) Change to the \NDIS directory and run NETBIND.EXE. (9) Run the ETHDRV.EXE program supplied with PC/TCP to complete the installation. Installation Procedure for FTP Software PC/TCP ODI Driver Using GCS3000 or NE2ODI ( have to use CARD2.EXE or CARD2CS.EXE ) (1) Install PC/TCP according to the instructions in your FTP PC/TCP manual. (2) (This step is not required for PC/TCP versions 2.10 and later.) Using an ASCII text editor, add the following lines to your CONFIG.SYS file: DEVICE=[path]IPCUST.SYS DEVICE=[path]IFCUST.SYS where [path] is the drive and directory specified at the PC/TCP installation. USING GCS3000 (3) Copy the file GCS3000.COM from the root directory of the Grey Cell Drivers Disk and the NET.CFG fi;le from the \GCS3000\ODI\ directory to the PC/TCP directory created in the PC/TCP install procedure. (4) To start the workstation, load the software in the following order: LSL GCS3000 ODIPKT (Use the version supplied with PC/TCP) ETHDRV USING NE2000 ( have to use CARD2.EXE or CARD2CS.EXE ) (3a) Copy the file CARD2(CS).EXE from the root directory of the Grey Cell Drivers Disk and the NE2ODI.COM file from the \NE2000\ODI\ directory on the drivers disk to the PC/TCP directory created in the PC/TCP install procedure. (4a) To start the workstation, load the software in the following order: CARD2(CS).EXE ( if using Card & Socket Services ) LSL NE2ODI ODIPKT (Use the version supplied with PC/TCP) ETHDRV (5) Continue your server or workstation startup as instructed in the PC/TCP documentation. Installation Procedure for ODI with FTP Software PC/TCP and NetWare If you need to run Novell NetWare concurrently with FTP PC/TCP, proceed as follows: Using GCS3000 or NE2000 ( have to use CARD2.EXE or CARD2CS.EXE ) (1) Install PC/TCP according to the instructions in your FTP PC/TCP manual. (2) (This step not required for PC/TCP versions 2.10 and later.) Using an ASCII text editor, add the following lines to your CONFIG.SYS file: DEVICE=[path]IPCUST.SYS DEVICE=[path]IFCUST.SYS where [path] is the drive and directory specified in the PC/TCP installation. USING GCS3000 (3) Copy the file GCS3000.COM from the root directory of the Grey Cell Drivers Disk and the file NET.CFG from the \GCS3000\ODI\ directory on the Disk to the PC/TCP directory created in the PC/TCP Install procedure. (4) To start the workstation, load the software in the following order: LSL GCS3000 IPXODI ODIPKT (Use the version supplied with PC/TCP) ETHDRV NETX or VLM USING NE2000 ( have to use CARD2.EXE or CARD2CS.EXE ) (3a) Copy the files CARD2(CS).EXE from the root directory of the Grey Cell Drivers Disk and the file NE2ODI.COM from the \NE2000\ODI directory on Disk to the PC/TCP directory created in the PC/TCP install procedure. (4a) To start the workstation, load the software in the following order: CARD2(CS).EXE ( if using Card & Socket Services ) LSL NE2ODI IPXODI ODIPKT (Use the version supplied with PC/TCP) ETHDRV NETX or VLM (5) Change to the network drive (usually F:\LOGIN) (6) Log in to the network. (5) Change to the network drive (usually F:\LOGIN) (6) Log in to the network. **************************************************************************** * * * IBM LAN Support Program (NDIS Driver) * * for Grey Cell System 3400 Series Fax/Modem/Ethernet Card * * * **************************************************************************** These instructions will set up the NE2000 or the GCS3000 NDIS driver. Using GCS3000 or NE2000 ( have to use CARD2.EXE or CARD2CS.EXE ) USING NE2000 (1) Run CARDCHEK in the diagnose directory on the Grey Cell Drivers Disk and make a note of the IRQ and IO which has been assigned. USING GCS3000 (1a) Run ASK-RSC in the diagnose directory on the Grey Cell Drivers Disk and make a note of the IRQ, IO, COM Port and Memory which is free. (2) Enter through the introduction pages. (3) When the setup screen appears select YES for 'Do you have Driver Diskette.' USING NE2000 (4) The 'Process Drivers Diskette Appears' Select the path A:\NE2000\NDIS2 USING GCS3000 (4a) The 'Process Drivers Diskette Appears' Select the path A:\GCS3000\NDIS2 (5) Follow the on screen instructions. (6) Highlight the Grey Cell Card and Select Change Parameters (7) The IRQ, I/O, (COM) & (Memory) must match the ones stated in step 1 (1a). (8) Select Install and Reboot the Systems. **************************************************************************** * * * Microsoft LAN Manager (versions 2.1 and later) (NDIS Driver) * * for Grey Cell System 3400 Series Fax/Modem/Ethernet Card * * * **************************************************************************** These instructions will set up for the NE2000 NDIS driver. If you wish to use the GCS3000 driver, follow these instructions and make the amendments shown at the end. (1) Begin the installation of your LAN Manager using the MS supplied "setup". (2) When prompted to select the available network adapter driver, choose "Other Driver." (3) Insert the Grey Cell Drivers Disk . USING NE2000 (4) Select "Grey Cell 3400 Fax/Modem/Ethernet Card (NE2000 Mode)" from the menu. USING GCS3000 (4a) Select "Grey Cell 3400 Fax/Modem/Ethernet Card (w/ Enabler)" from the menu. (5) Continue with the installation until it is completed. (6) Reboot the PC. **************************************************************************** * * * Microsoft LAN Manager (version 2.0) NDIS Driver * * for Grey Cell System 3400 Series Fax/Modem/Ethernet Card * * * **************************************************************************** These instructions will set up for the NE2000 NDIS driver. If you wish to use the GCS3000 driver, follow these instructions and make the amendments shown at the end. (1) Begin the installation of your LAN Manager using the MS supplied "setup". (2) Insert the Grey Cell Drivers Disk . USING NE2000 (4) Select "Grey Cell Fax/Modem/Ethernet Card (NE2000 Mode)" from the menu. USING GCS3000 (4a) Select "Grey Cell 3400 Fax/Modem/Ethernet Card (w/ Enabler)" from the menu. (5) Proceed with the installation. (6) At the Network Drivers menu, select "Grey Cell Fax/Modem/Ethernet Card" from the list of drivers. (5) Continue with the installation until it is completed. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
