CANON SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT
IMPORTANT!
This is a legal agreement ("Agreement") between you and Canon Inc.
("Canon") and governing your use of Canon's software programs
including the related manuals or any printed material thereof (the
"Software") for certain Canon's copying machines, printers and
multifunctional peripherals (the "Products").
READ CAREFULLY AND UNDERSTAND ALL OF THE RIGHTS AND RESTRICTIONS
DESCRIBED IN THIS AGREEMENT BEFORE USING THE SOFTWARE. BY THE ACTION
TO INDICATE YOUR ACCEPTANCE OR USING THE SOFTWARE, YOU AGREE TO BE
BOUND BY THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT
AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT, DO NOT
USE THE SOFTWARE. NO REFUND WILL BE MADE BECAUSE THE SOFTWARE WAS
PROVIDED TO YOU AT NO CHARGE.
1. GRANT OF LICENSE
Canon grants you a personal, limited and non-exclusive license to use
("use" as used herein shall include storing, loading, installing,
accessing, executing or displaying) the Software solely for the use
with Products only on computers directly or via network connected to
the Products (the "Designated Computer"). You may allow other users
of other computers connected to your Designated Computer to use the
Software, provided that you must assure that all such users shall
abide by the terms of this Agreement and shall be subject to
restrictions and obligations borne by you hereunder.
You may make one copy of the Software solely for a back-up purpose.
2. RESTRICTIONS
You shall not use the Software except as expressly granted or
permitted herein, and shall not assign, sublicense, sell, rent, lease,
loan, convey or transfer to any third party the Software. You shall
not alter, translate or convert to another programming language,
modify, disassemble, decompile or otherwise reverse engineer the
Software and you shall not have any third party to do so.
3. COPYRIGHT NOTICE
You shall not modify, remove or delete any copyright notice of
Canon or its licensors contained in the Software, including any
copy thereof.
4. OWNERSHIP
Canon and its licensors retain in all respects the title, ownership
and intellectual property rights in and to the Software.
Except as expressly provided herein, no license or right, express or
implied, is hereby conveyed or granted by Canon to you for any
intellectual property of Canon and its licensors.
5. EXPORT RESTRICTION
You agree to comply with all export laws and restrictions and
regulations of the country involved, and not to export or re-export,
directly or indirectly, the Software in violation of any such laws,
restrictions and regulations, or without all necessary approvals.
6. NO SUPPORT
NEITHER CANON, CANON'S SUBSIDIARIES OR AFFILIATES, THEIR DISTRIBUTORS,
OR DEALERS NOR CANON'S LICENSORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING OR
HELPING YOU TO USE THE SOFTWARE. NO UPDATES, FIXES OR SUPPORTS WILL
BE MADE AVAILABLE FOR THE SOFTWARE.
7. NO WARRANTY AND DISCLAIMER OF INDEMNITY
[NO WARRANTY] THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF
ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO
THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR
PURPOSE. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE
SOFTWARE IS WITH YOU. SHOULD THE SOFTWARE PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME
THE ENTIRE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR CORRECTION.
SOME STATES OR LEGAL JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF
IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO THE ABOVE EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE
OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE OR JURISDICTION TO
JURISDICTION.
NEITHER CANON, CANON'S SUBSIDIARIES OR AFFILIATES, THEIR DISTRIBUTORS,
OR DEALERS NOR CANON'S LICENSORS WARRANT THAT THE FUNCTIONS CONTAINED
IN THE SOFTWARE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR THAT THE OPERATION OF
THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR FREE.
[NO LIABILITY FOR DAMAGES] IN NO EVENT SHALL EITHER CANON, CANON'S
SUBSIDIARIES OR AFFILIATES, THEIR DISTRIBUTORS DEALERS OR CANON'S
LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING WITHOUT
LIMITATION, LOSS OF BUSINESS PROFITS, LOSS OF BUSINESS INFORMATION,
LOSS OF BUSINESS INTERRUPTION OR OTHER COMPENSATORY, INCIDENTAL OR
CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES) ARISING OUT OF THE SOFTWARE, USE THEREOF OR
INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE EVEN IF EITHER CANON, CANON'S
SUBSIDIARIES OR AFFILIATES, THEIR DISTRIBUTORS, DEALERS OR CANON'S
LICENSORS HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
SOME STATES OR LEGAL JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR
EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR
PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH RESULTING FROM NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF
SELLER, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
[RELEASE OF LIABILITY] TO THE FULL EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE
LAW, YOU HEREBY RELEASE CANON, CANON'S SUBSIDIARIES AND AFFILIATES,
THEIR DISTRIBUTORS, DEALERS AND CANON'S LICENSORS FROM ANY AND ALL
LIABILITY ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO ALL CLAIMS CONCERNING THE
SOFTWARE OR ITS USE.
8. TERM
This Agreement is effective upon your acceptance hereof by the action
to indicate your acceptance or using the Software and remains in
effect until terminated. You may terminate this Agreement by
destroying the Software including any and all copies thereof. This
Agreement shall also terminate if you fail to comply with any terms
hereof. Upon termination of this Agreement, in addition to Canon
enforcing its respective legal rights, you must then promptly destroy
the Software including any and all copies thereof. Notwithstanding
the foregoing, Sections 4, and 7 through 11 shall survive any
termination of this Agreement.
9. U.S. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS NOTICE
The Software is a "commercial item," as that term is defined at
48 C.F.R. 2.101 (October 1995), consisting of "commercial computer
software" and "commercial computer software documentation," as such
terms are used in 48 C.F.R. 12.212 (September 1995). Consistent
with 48 C.F.R. 12.212 and 48 C.F.R. 227.7202-1 through 227.7202-4
(June 1995), all U.S. Government End Users shall acquire the
Software with only those rights set forth herein. Manufacturer
is Canon Inc./30-2, Shimomaruko 3-chome, Ohta-ku, Tokyo 146-8501,
Japan.
10. SEVERABILITY
In the event that any section hereof is declared or found to be
illegal by any court or tribunal of competent jurisdiction, such
section shall be null and void with respect to the jurisdiction of
that court or tribunal and all the remaining provisions hereof shall
remain in full force and effect.
11. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
BY THE ACTION TO INDICATE YOUR ACCEPTANCE OR USING THE SOFTWARE, YOU
ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ THIS AGREEMENT, UNDERSTOOD IT, AND
AGREE TO BE BOUND BY ITS TERMS AND CONDITIONS. YOU ALSO AGREE THAT
THIS AGREEMENT IS THE COMPLETE AND EXCLUSIVE STATEMENT OF AGREEMENT
BETWEEN YOU AND CANON CONCERNING THE SUBJECT MATTER HEREOF AND
SUPERSEDES ALL PROPOSALS OR PRIOR AGREEMENTS, VERBAL OR WRITTEN, AND
ANY OTHER COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN YOU AND CANON RELATING TO THE
SUBJECT MATTER HEREOF. NO AMENDMENT TO THIS AGREEMENT SHALL BE
EFFECTIVE UNLESS SIGNED BY A DULY AUTHORISED REPRESENTATIVE OF CANON.
Should you have any questions concerning this Agreement, or if you
desire to contact Canon for any reason, please write to Canon's sales
subsidiary or distributor/dealer, serving the country where you
obtained the Products.

1. Scaling
Some applications may not print correctly when scaling is set to
a value other than 100% in the Canon iR1510-1670 Printer Setup or
Properties dialog. In this case, please set scaling to 100%.
If the application has its own scaling function, please set scaling
from within the application.

2. Overlay
Depending on the application, the printout when using overlay form
may be different from what you expect to be printed. For example,
the contents of overlay form beyond the printing area may not be
printed unless the printing area (or margin) setting is changed.
Please try to print it setting its margin as wide as to fit all
contents of overlay form in the printable area.

3. Halftone
The Halftone settings are valid when printing colored bitmaps,
filled areas, or colored text.
Canon iR1510-1670 has its own halftone function.
In Windows 2000/XP/Vista, the system halftones are not supported.

4. Sharing a parallel port with another device
Canon iR1510-1670 is capable of sharing a parallel port with
another device such as a scanner which conforms to
the contention management described in DDK (Device Driver
Development Kit). However, when both devices are, used
simultaneously, this may cause a problem with operation.

5. Printing On-Line Help: Windows 2000/XP/Vista
If you want to print the contents of the On-Line Help, start up
[Canon iR1510-1670 Help] from the Canon iR1510-1670 group.

6. Uninstalling network printer that other user connected:
Windows 2000/XP/Vista
When you execute the [Canon iR1510-1670 Uninstallation] on the PC
that other user have already connected to the Canon iR1510-1670
network printer servers, information of the Canon iR1510-1670
network printer that other user connected will not be removed.
In this case, other user should remove this Canon iR1510-1670
printer icon before you execute uninstallation.

7. Restriction on Windows 2000/XP/Vista network printer
When a network printer is installed on Windows 2000/XP/Vista,
even though you change its connection destination to a local port,
the printer cannot be used as a local printer. If you need to
establish a local printer, you must install a printer driver,
selecting a local port.

8. Restarting Windows with a remaining print job: Windows 2000/XP/Vista
If you need to restart Windows 2000/XP/Vista with a remaining
Canon iR1510-1670 print job, first double-click the Canon
iR1510-1670 icon in the Printers folder and pause the print job.
Then restart Windows 2000/XP/Vista.

9. Windows 2000/XP/Vista network printer installation
When installing a network printer on Windows 2000/XP/Vista, it is
recommended to install the printer with administrative privileges.
However, if the printer is installed by clients without administrative
privileges, some functions may be unavailable due to OS security
restrictions.

- "Canon iR1510-1670" group is not created.
- When initializing Windows, the Printer Status Window is not started
automatically.

(When the client settings satisfy all of the following conditions);
- No administrative or power-user privileges (Windows 2000/XP/Vista)
- File system is "NTFS".
[Unavailable functions 2] (Windows 2000/XP/Vista);
- Uninstaller can't be registered in "Add/Remove Programs".

Windows Vista)
[Conditions]
(When the client setting satisfy the following conditions);
- No administrative or power-user privileges.

10. Installation in Windows XP/Vista multi-user environment
When Canon iR1510-1670 is installed in Windows XP/Vista, do not
install it for the user switched by the "Fast User Switching"
function of Windows XP/Vista.
When using the Fast User Switching function, be sure to log on
again before installation.

11. Monitor Device Status function: Windows 2000/XP/Vista
Without administrative privileges, printing may not be possible
when the Monitor Device Status is set to a setting other than
Always in the Status Window option dialog box
(Windows 2000/XP/Vista).
In this case, either select Always, or log on with administrative
privileges.

12. Display of status when printer is used by multiple Windows XP/Vista users
If the user is changed with the Fast User Switching function of
Windows XP/Vista, the printer status cannot be displayed in the
Printer Status Window.
To display the status, log on again, then open the Printer Status
Window.

13. CAPT Windows Firewall Utility
If you are using an operating system equipped with Windows Firewall,
such as Windows XP Service Pack 2, as a print server, communication
with the client computers is controlled by Windows Firewall. The
[CAPT Windows Firewall Utility] is a utility for configuring Windows
Firewall to unblock or block this communication with the client
computers.
The [CAPT Windows Firewall Utility] is located either in the
[WF_UTIL] folder of the folder that is created when you uncompress
the downloaded file, or in the [English] - [WF_UTIL] folder in the
supplied CD-ROM.
Refer to "note_ex.pdf" for more details on the [CAPT Windows Firewall
Utility].

14. About the Client-Side Settings for Using the Printer Sharing Function
If you are using Windows XP Service Pack 2 or another operating
system equipped with Windows Firewall on the client side, configure
the following settings. If you do not setup the following settings on
the client side, the printer status may not display properly in the
Printer Status Window and you may not be able to access some of the
printer functions.
(1) Display the [Windows Firewall] ([Windows Firewall Settings] for
Windows Vista) dialog box.
For Windows XP: From the [Start] menu, select [Control Panel],
and then click [Network and Internet Connections] -> [Windows
Firewall].
For Windows Vista: From the [Start] menu, select [Control Panel],
and then click [Allow a program through Windows Firewall]. (If
the [User Account Control] dialog box appears, click [Continue].)
(2) On the [Exceptions] sheet in the [Windows Firewall] dialog box,
place a checkmark next to [File and Printer Sharing], and click
the [OK] button.

15. Running the Printer Status Window after Installing the Printer Driver
(Windows Vista)
If you do not restart the computer after installing the printer
driver, the Printer Status Window may not run automatically when
you print.
In this case, restart the computer or run the Printer Status Window
manually.

16. Characters for the Printer Name (Windows Vista)
When an "@" character is used in the name of the printer, the printer
will become unrecognizable by the operating system because of an
invalid printer name thus disabling printing, operation and setup.

17. Access Permission to the Printer Properties (Windows Vista)
When you log on to an Administrator account that is different from
the one used to install the printer driver, you cannot access the
printer properties with Administrators permission.
To access the printer properties, right-click the icon for the printer,
and then select [Run as administrator].

18. Printing Thin Lines (Windows Vista)
In certain applications, thickness of a line can be set to a value
smaller than 1 pt but the actual thickness in the printout may be
equivalent to that of a 1 pt line.

19. Specifying the IP Address of the Printer (Windows Vista)
If you specify the IP address that is being used by another device
for the printer, the printer may not function properly.
In this case, turn off the device that is using the same IP address
or remove the device from the network, and then specify an unused IP
address for the printer using any of the following methods.
- Settings using NetSpot Device Installer
- Settings using the ARP/PING command
(To execute the ARP/PING command, you need to log on to Windows as
a member of Administrators.)
- Settings using the Remote UI

20. Settings for Printing on Windows Vista (Windows Vista)
Before printing on Windows Vista, perform the following settings.
If you print without performing the settings, the data may not be
printed as specified in the printer driver.
(1) Right-click the icon for the printer, then select [Properties].
(2) Display the [Advanced] sheet.
(3) Select [Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster],
then select [Start printing after last page is spooled].
(4) Click [OK].

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
