This fax driver allows you to send a fax from any Windows 98/Me/NT4.0/2000
/XP/Server 2003 application to a remote fax machine if your machine contains
an optional fax board.
System Requirements
===================
The Canon Fax Driver does not require any additional
system configuration beyond those required to run Windows 98/Me/NT4.0/2000
/XP/Server 2003.
However, at least one of the following output ports is required:
- parallel printer port (LPT1, LPT2, etc.)
- USB port
- network interface
Installing the Fax Driver
=========================
To use this fax driver with software applications that operate
with Microsoft Windows 98/Me/NT4.0/2000/XP/Server 2003, use the following
installation procedure.
Note
----
* When using the installer for Winodws NT4.0, Service Pack 6 or later must be
installed in your system.
* If you use a SMB (NetBIOS network) printer as a shared printer on the server
PC, use the Add Printer Wizard, and select "Network printer" when installing
the printer driver.
* Under the Windows NT4.0 Terminal Server environment, you cannot install the
printer driver correctly if you execute the installer on the Remote Login
screen of the client PC. In this case, install the driver on the Terminal
Server. If you want to do so on the Remote Login screen, contact your Canon
authorized dealer or Canon authorized service provider.
* If you use the installer under Windows 98/Me, the installation may be
suspended depending on the system environment you use. In this case, restart
your computer, and then retry the installation.
* If you log on Windows NT4.0/2000 as a Power User and run the installer, the
installation may not be completed correctly. In this case, log in as an
Administrator, and then retry the installation.
* If you do not restart the computer when a message appears prompting you to do
so, Microsoft Office may not operate correctly after that. If this happens,
restart your computer.
* For Windows 98/Me, if you update the fax driver v2.00 or older using the
New Driver button in the Details sheet of the printer properties dialog box,
the driver will not be updated correctly. First delete the previous printer
driver, and then install this version of the driver.
* Under the environment where MetaFrame FR3 is installed and
AutoCreatedPrinter exists, the fax driver installation using the
Installer will be interrupted. When you exit the Installer, an error message
is displayed. After closing the error message, you cannot open the Printers
folder and log off the Client PC until you restart the computer.
In this case, delete AutoCreatedPrinter, restart the computer, and then
restart the Installer to install the fax driver. AutoCreatedPrinter will
be recreated automatically after restarting the computer.

on your PC and then do the installation, change the properties of the
"instdrv.ini" and "uninst.ini" files following the procedure below:
Right-click the file and select Properties, clear the Read-only check box,
and then select the Archive check box.
* If you are using a shared printer in the Print Server (Point and Print)
environment, it is necessary to install Canon Driver Information Assist
Service in the server PC in order to set up the printer configuration
automatically or to use the Job Accounting feature.
To install using the Add Printer Wizard:

Accessing Help Information
==========================
In the Properties dialog box, you can click the Help button to display the
information about the Canon fax driver. You can also click the ? button
in the upper right corner of dialog boxes and then click a specific item
in a dialog box for help with that item.
Cautions, Limitations and Restrictions
======================================
1. Custom paper sizes are not available for sending a fax.
2. Do not specify more than 1 for the Copies option in the application since
the fax may be sent more than once in some applications when the Copies
option is specified in the application.
3. Specify a NetWare Server name or NDS tree name up to 15 characters.
4. For Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003 when installing with Add Printer from the
Printer Folder, the Cannot find Digital Signature message may appear.
If this message appears, continue with the installation. The printer will
install correctly.
5. When using Terminal Server for Windows NT/2000, or sharing Windows XP/Server
2003 by multiple users, it is not available to use the Job Accounting
feature or set up printer configuration automatically.
6. For Window XP/Server 2003, it is necessary to use TCP/IP as a network
protocol in order to set up the printer configuration automatically when
using a Remote Desktop environment, or when Windows is shared by multiple
users.
7. When using the Job Accounting feature under the NetWare environment, it is
not available to verify the ID and password even if the Confirm ID/Password
when Sending Fax check box is selected in the ID/Password Settings dialog
box. Thus, you cannot send a fax if the specified ID and password are
invalid.
8. When importing a CSV file using the Import feature of the Address Book, use
only "," (comma) as a separator.
9. For iR330-400, only System Version 2.0 (or later) is supported by the
printer driver version 4.2 (or later) and fax driver version 1.2 (or later).
