readme_9.5.0.1_firmware.txt Driver File Contents (9.5.0.1-win64-9690-Upgrade.zip)

There are several ways that you can update the firmware on the 9690SA.

Method 1. tw_update (FreeBSD and Linux)

Tw_update can be used to update the firmware on the 9690SA. Tw_update is available for FreeBSD and Linux on the 9.5.0.1 CD and on the 3ware download page http://www.3ware.com/support/download.asp. Tw_update usage instructions are in the 9690SA User's Guide http://www.3ware.com/support/userdocs.asp, or by typing tw_update /help.

Method 2. 3wupdate.exe (Windows)
3wupdate can be used to update the firmware and driver under Windows. 3wpdate is available for windows on the 9.5.0.1 CD and on the 3ware download page http://www.3ware.com/support/download.asp. 3wupdate is also copied to the C:\program files\amcc\3wupdate folder (by default) when 3DM2 from the 9.5.0.1 or newer code set is installed. 3wupdate usage instructions are in the 9690SA User's Guide http://www.3ware.com/support/userdocs.asp.

Method 3. 3DM2 (FreeBSD, Linux, and Windows)
From the 3DM2 Management/Controller Settings screen there is an 'Update Firmware' option at the bottom. Click 'Browse' to select the firmware image file, and then click 'Begin Update'.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

After upgrading the firmware, you must also run update9690. Please see 3ware KB article 15310 http://www.3ware.com/KB/article.aspx?id=15310.

Method 4. Boot from 9.5.0.1 CD (not recommended)

You can boot from the 9.5.0.1 CD and follow the prompts to flash update the 9690SA firmware. This is not recommended as update9690 must be run after flash upgrading the firmware, and there is no DOS based version of update9690 (the 9.5.0.1 CD boots to DOS). If you use Method 4, then you should boot to the operating system and run update9690 as soon as possible.
