Printer Driver Installer Ver.3.64a (For Windows 98SE/Me/NT4/2000/XP/Server 2003) 2.Attention Please read the following notes before use. 2-1. The following operating environment is required in order to start the Installer on Windows NT4. - The newest service pack SP6a needs to be installed. - The Internet Explorer needs to be updated by 4.0 or more. - In order to start the Help File by pressing the Help bottom on the Installer, HTML Help Runtime Component Ver1.3 or more is necessary to be installed in the computer beforehand. (In NT4, this program may not be installed as standard depending on the OS language. In that case, please download the HTML Help Runtime Component Ver1.3 or more from Microsoft site and install it.) 2-2. When you start the installer by Windows NT4/2000/XP/Server 2003 and install the printer, it is necessary to log in by the user who has the administrator power to the installing computer. Power User cannot install it. 2-3. Please install by using Plug & Play function of the operating system when it is connected to Windows 98SE by USB cable. <Plug & Play Installation Manual> 1. Turn on the PC that adds the driver and the printer device. 2. If "Add New Hardware Wizard" is displayed, Click "Next" button. 3. Select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)" and Click "Next" button. 4. Select "Specify a location" and Type "D:\Driver\PS-PPD\EN\Win9xMe". ( When D drive is the CD-ROM drive.) 5. Select "The updated driver (Recommend)" and Click "Next" button. 6. Make sure that the Printer driver is installed and Click "Next" button. 7. Complete the rest of setting according to the Wizard. 3. Installing the Software Double click the UserInst.exe file and perform the installation according to the Wizard of screen. 5. How to check the Version This can check from the title bar of main screen of the Printer Driver Installer. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// 2. Attentions and Restrictions when using Generic 35C-3/35C-3P/30C-1 /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Many convenient functions are offered by Generic 35C-3/35C-3P/30C-1. Depending on the application, similar functions are realized by itself. In such a case, please be careful of the setting method etc. Attentions and Restrictions of each functional detail are shown below. (1)Paper Size Setting 1)When not printing as paper size setting - Paper size can be set by Printer property, but it may become invalid the paper size that is specified on the printer property according to an application. ==> Please set the paper size on [Print...] menu of an application. (2)Paper Source Setting 1)Cannot set Paper Source. - To set Tray3 or Tray4 for the Paper Source, the optional Paper Sources is necessary. Also, you need to set the Tray at the option of the printer. ==> Please check the existence of Paper Source and the setting of the printer option. - Paper Source may have restriction depending on the specified paper size. 2)When paper source method doesn't work as specified. - Paper source can be set by Printer property, but it may become invalid the paper source that is specified on the printer property according to an application. ==> Please set the paper source on [Print...] menu of an application. - Paper may be fed from a different tray other than the tray specified depending on the paper size set up on the machine. (3)Print Orientation Setting 1)Print orientation setting doesn't work as specified. - Print Operation can be set by Printer property, but it may become invalid the Print Orientation that is specified on the printer property depending on an application. ==> Please set Print Orientation on [Page Setup...] menu in an application. (4)Collate Functions 1)Collate doesn't work as specified. Collate is able to be set by Printer property, but the following situation may occur depending on an application if you specify Collate on [Print...] menu. - If Combination is specified, the last page of No. n copies and the first page of No. n+1 copies are printed on the same paper. - If Double-Sided is specified, the first page of No. n+1 copies is printed on the reverse side of the last page of No. n copies. - If Booklet is specified, all prints are collected into one book and printed. - If Staple is specified, all prints are collected into one set and stapled. - If Distribution Number Stamping is specified, all prints are printed with the same Number Stamp. - If Secure print is specified, the waiting documents for print for specified number of copies are stored in the machine. - If watermark is specified only on the first page of multiple copies of printing, it will be stamped only on the first page of the first copy. - Even if Offset is specified, it will be output without offset. ==> Please set No Collate on [Print...] menu and specify Collate on the Printer property. (5)Copies Setting 1)Copies Setting doesn't work as specified. - Copies can be set by the Printer property and Print menu of the most of an application, but the priority of setting between Printer property setting and [Print...] menu setting is different depending on an application. ==> First, please set 1 for the copies on [Print...] menu and specify the required copies by the Printer property. If only 1 copy is printed with this setting, please specify the required copies on [Print...] menu. 2)Proof and Print, and Copies - In Excel, even though Proof and Print function is selected and multiple copies are set for print, all copies of document will be printed without storing. *Proof and Print function cannot be specified with 1 copy. Also, even if the multiple copies are set in Excel-copy unit print/ON, Proof and Print function is cancelled because all data are printed only 1 copy with number of set. This can be solved by un-checking [Print on copy unit]. (6)Front Cover Page/Back Cover Page 1)Paper for Front/Back Cover Page When you use Front Cover Page Function and Back Cover Page Function, it is necessary to set the correct paper beforehand in the Paper Source for Front Cover Page/Back Cover Page that is specified by the printer driver. (7)User Authentication/Account Track 1) Printing under User Authentication and Account Track When you use the printer that requires User Authentication/Account Track before printing, print is not accepted without entering the correct User Name, Department Name and Password. (8)Booklet and Center Staple and Fold 1)Blank of Paper Center Part Blank space with a width of about 10mm occurs in the center of paper. ==> Please make more than 5mm blank space of original and print. (9)Watermark 1)Japanese Watermark If you print Japanese Watermark Text to the printer that Japanese printer fonts are not installed to, watermark text is not printed correctly. (10)Others 1)SMB Print by Windows 98SE/Me - On Windows printing from Windows 98/98SE/Me, "Printer offline" message may be displayed for some print jobs. Printing of the job that is currently stopping for spooling restarts if printer driver is placed online after a print job in progress is finished. - If the "Printer offline" messages are frequently displayed, we recommend that jobs are printed by Peer-to-Peer, that uses the Network Setup tool (Peer-to- Peer Printing Tool). - For instructions regarding printing by Peer-to-Peer, refer to the User's Guide. (Peer-to-Peer Printing Tool) 2)When sending plural printing job to Local Port/Network Port If multiple copies of document is sent to each port such as Parallel, IPP, SMB, RAW and LPR at the same time. The print out of one set of document may be separated by another print job. ==> In this case, select Uncollated. 3)When the upper limit value is exceeded at the Account Track When "Copy Track Mode" and "Copy Limit" are set to "Yes", if there is a job that stops in the middle of printing as the limit is reached, the later print jobs are not output unless the stopping job is canceled. The administrator must cancel the "Copy Limit" to output the stopping job or someone must delete the job after confirmation. 4)Wide Paper When you use a Wide paper, load the paper in the tray and set the paper size in the Printer before the printing operation. ==>For the setting procedure, please refer to the User's Manual for Printer. 6) Power OFF while printing/processing Do not turn off the machine while it is printing/processing as a malfunction may occur. If the power is turned off by mistake, and a malfunction occurs, turn off the machine once and then turn on again. 7)Job List When you print from Mac OS 9 and Windows98SE/Me/NT4/2000/XP, sender and document name will not be displayed correctly on the Printer LCD([Current Jobs], [Job History] in [Job List] screen) 8)Copies Setting in Application Depending on an application, you can enter exceeding 999 for copies, but only one copy may be printed. 9)Screen Font When the screen font is installed in PC and it prints using the font, some of fonts or characters may not be printed correctly. 10)Windows 98SE/Me printing When size mixed, double-sided, and Combination function are specified and printed on Windows 98SE and Me, middle page the document may not be printed correctly. ==> Please print for every size. 11)Simple Setting of PostScript Driver If you change the Nup/Watermark setting including simple setting on the tab other than [Layout] TAB, it may not be printed with the specified Nup/Watermark setting. 12)Setting Change of [Option] TAB on WindowsNT4 [Option] TAB setting may not be saved. ==> Please display [Device Setting] TAB to save. 13)LPR Print on WindowsNT4 If Printer name or Printer queue name of the server are not same as the name or address of server, [Option]TAB-[Gather Option Information] and [Web Connection] do not work correctly. 14)Large amount of data Printing On WindowsNT4/2000/XP, when large amount of data are printed, the printing job may not be output. ==> [Detail]tab-> Remove the CHECK of [Enable detail printing]. 15)SMB Printing on WindowsNT4 On WindowsNT4, when you make a port by SMB printing (Windows printing) and print, the printing job may not be output. ==>[Properties]->[General]->Change to other printers by [Driver] and set this printer up afterwards. 16)Gather Option Information When you install the printer driver to a client PC in Point and Print, you cannot use [Option]-[Gather Option Information] in Printer's property. ==>Please set the option composition manually or acquire the option information from the server PC. 17)Quality If you check [Quality] TAB -[Settings...]-[Photo]-[Pure Black] is Off, the full color counter is counted up because it performs CMYK print, but it is printed more beautifully. 18)You can not add printers as IPP printer on iPrint client of Novell Netware Ver.5 or later. It will fail to download the PS driver from your Netware Server when you try to add printers. ==> When you need to add printers on the environment described above, please use PCL driver. 19)When you selected a printer which belongs to one of computers in "WORKGROUP" of "My Network" and installed the printer driver, you may not open the printer property of the installed printer. ==> In this case, please install the printer driver by its installer. 20)When you installed the network printer by using "Browse for Printer" in "Printers and Faxes" folder, you may not open the printer property of the installed printer. ==> In this case, please install the printer driver in the way described below. 1) Select "Local printer" and "Create a new port" in "Select a Printer Port" window. 2) Select "Local Port" for "Type of port" and enter "\\NetBios name\service name" for "Port Name". 3) After that, install the printer driver according to the Wizard. 21)Installing the Printer Driver on Windows NT4 It is not possible to automatically install the printer driver on Windows NT4 with using the installer. Please install the printer driver on Windows NT4 with the Add Printer Wizard. In installation with the Wizard, Windows NT4 Service Pack 6 CD will be required. So, please prepare the CD before starting installation. For installation with the Wizard, please see the User's Guide. ----------------------------------------------------- Cautions and restrictions with specified applications ----------------------------------------------------- (1)Microsoft Office 1)AutoShapes Graphics Print in Office If the [Transparency] check box of [Fill] column in [Format AutoShape...]- [Colors and Lines] TAB is ON, the paint-out part of graphics may not be printed correctly at the time of reduction and enlargement print. 2)Continuous Print by Word 2000 If you print by pressing the print bottom continuously in Word2000, the omission of text and object or the page may occur. When you print continuously by using the print bottom, set the [Background Printing] check box ON in [Tools]-[Options]- [Print] TAB and then perform printing. Or perform the continuous print of same original with setting the Copies to print by using the Print dialog box in [File]-[Print...]. 3)When you have your PC connect with the printer by SMB under Windows XP and try to print any documents written by Word2002 with Nin1 and Watermark function, Nin1 function will not work correctly nor Watermark will be printed in a small font. ==> In this case, please print by any communication ports other than SMB. (2) Adobe Acrobat 1) When a printing is performed from Acrobat Reader or Acrobat, Printing may not be performed normally. ==> Please check the [Print as image] on the Print setting of the application. (3) Adobe PageMaker, Illustrator 1)Depending on applications, such as PageMaker and Illustrator etc, if it recognizes that it is a PostScript printer driver, the application itself may output the PostScript command. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
