Configuration Notes =================== A user can configure through the protocol.ini file the speed, duplexity, PCI bus/dev/func, or MAC address at which the NDIS2 driver is running. All the configurable keyword names and possible values in the protocol.ini are described below. Keyword Name Possible Values ------------- ---------------- drivername BXND20X$ (this field is case sensitive). linespeed 10, 100, or 1000, and the default value is autoneg. busnum the bus slot number a 5706 device is on, and the default value is the bus slot occupied by one of 5706 devices in the system. devnum the device number a 5706 device is on, and the default value is the device number occupied by one of 5706 devices in the system. funcnum the function number a 5706 device is on, and the default value is the function number occupied by one of 5706 devices in the system. duplex "half", or "full", and the default value is "full". nodeaddress 6 hex bytes looking like "0A0B0C0D0E0F", and the default value is the MAC address the selected 5706 device has been programmed. Note: if a keyword is not present in the protocol.ini, the default value will be chosen. Known Issues: =================== While a NDIS2 driver is used for Win2k3 self-installation, a smartdrv driver needs to be loaded. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
