                      	PCMCIA MiniCDRW driver installation
			       for Windows 2000


When the MiniCDRW PCMCIA card is first plugged into one of the
PCMCIA sockets, and the PCMCIA socket hardware has been mounted by
Windows 2000, the Installation Wizard will pop up a window informing
you that a new piece of hardware has just been found.  By accepting 
the default selection using standard Windows drivers, Windows will 
install the following drivers:

	ARC ATAPI, 
	PCMCIA IDE/ATAPI controller, 
	ARCHOS MiniCDRW XS4424 and 
	CD-ROM DRIVE. 

No driver files will be needed from Archos.
 
The MiniCDRW drive should be recognized after installation without rebooting.





			USB MiniCDRW driver installation
                               for Windows 2000


After inserting the MiniCDRW USB connector into one of the open
USB port on your computer, follow the Installation Wizard below:

	
Method 1:
	If this is your first time installing the MiniCDRW drive, you will use this method.

	· Turn on your computer and wait for Windows to finish booting.
	· Insert USB cable to an open USB port on your computer.  
	  Follow steps listed below to complete installation:

	  1. "Found new hardware wizard" will pop up.  Windows will install 
		USB Storage Adapter, 
		USB Mass Storage Device, 
		ARCHOS MiniCDRW XS4424 USB Device, and 
		CD-ROM Drive using standard Windows 2000 drivers.  
	  No driver files will be needed from Archos.

	· In order to use the Archos MiniCDRW XS4424 properly, 
	  you must upgrade the USB Mass Storage Device.  
	  Follow steps listed below to complete installation:

	1. Go to Control Panel, double click on System, click on Hardware tab, click on 			
		Device Manager, double click on Universal Serial Bus Controllers, 
		double click on USB Mass Storage Device, click on Driver tab, click on 
		Update Driver

	2. "Welcome to the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard ", click "Next".

	3. "This Wizard upgrades drivers for the following hardware device: 
		USB Mass Storage Device.  
		"What do you want the Wizard to do? ", select 
		"Search for a suitable driver for my device. (Recommended).  Click "Next".

	4. "Where do you want Windows to search for the driver files?", check 
		"Floppy disk drives" box, and uncheck all other boxes; insert 
		MiniCDRW installation diskette driver in floppy drive, then click "Next".

	5. "Windows found a driver that is closer match for this device than you current 		   
		driver.", located in A:\ISD200.INF.  Click "Next".

	6. To complete the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard - USB Storage Adapter V2, click "Finish".




Method 2:
	If you are re-installing the MiniCDRW drive, you will use this method.

	1. "New hardware found USB Cable" window flashes on the screen, then                                  	
		"Found New Hardware Wizard" window will help you to install the new drive.
		Click "Next".	
	
	2. This Wizard will complete the installation for this device: 
		USB Storage Adapter
				
		"What do you want the Wizard to do? ", select 
	   	"Search for a suitable driver for my device. (Recommended).  
	   	Click "Next".

	3.  Search for driver files for the following hardware devices:
		USB Storage Adapter

		Under Optional search locations: 

	   check "Floppy disk drives" box, and uncheck all other boxes; 
	   insert MiniCDRW installation diskette driver in floppy drive, 
           then click "Next".

	5. "The wizard found a driver for the following device:
		USB Storage Adapter

	   located in A:\isd200.inf  
	   Click "Next".

	6. To complete the Found New Hardware Wizard, click "Finish".

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
