BIOS FLASHING INSTRUCTIONS

  The following instructions explain how to flash the
  system BIOS of your PC. These instructions apply to the
  HP flasher called HPINIT

1. CREATING THE BIOS INSTALLATION DISKETTE
  a. Create a system diskette
  b. Copy the contents of this directory onto this diskette:
     copy *.* A:
     (Assuming that your diskette drive is A:)

2. FLASHING THE BIOS
  a. Insert the BIOS installation diskette into the A: (B:)
     drive
  b. Boot the PC from the diskette to ensure a clean boot.
  c. Launch the flashing command by typing from A: (B:) the
     following command:
          Flash

3. SWITCHES (FOR ADVANCED USERS ONLY)
  By default, the HP6INIT.EXE utility flashes the first
  binary file matching the name convention found in the
  directory. It asks the user to confirm the flashing
  procedure. It verifies that the version to be flashed is
  newer that the current one. It asks for the password if
  necessary and halts the system till the user presses a
  key to reset.
  
       This normal flashing procedure can be altered using
  switches after the HP6INIT.EXE command :
  
      /B: Specifies that the HP6INIT utility will allow
  the system not to reboot upon completion of the flashing
  procedure.
  
       /LXX: The value XX defines the language used for
  the HP6INIT user interface and if the parameter "/N" is
  not present, it also specifies the language of the
  binary file to be flashed. Otherwise, HP6INIT will
  display its screen in English and attempt to flash a
  binary file with the specified language code.

       NO or NR     Norwegian

       SW           Swedish
  
       /M: Indicates that the HP6INIT utility should run
  in "manufacturing" mode, i.e. without any keyboard entry
  (except if a password is present, then it is required to
  enter it to proceed with the flashing).
  
       /N"XyyyyyZZ.BIN": Forces the name of the binary
  file to be flashed. "X" represents the type of machine,
  "yyyyy" is the version number and "ZZ" the language
  code.
  
       /Pxxxxxxxxxxxxxx: Allows to enter the password on
  the command line. The HP6INIT.EXE utility is then able
  to flash without waiting for the user to enter it during
  the flashing procedure. This is designed to be used in
  conjunction with the "/M" switch on system with password
  requiring to be flashed without user interaction.
  "xxxxxxxxxxxxxx" represents the scan codes of the
  password.
  
       /V: Disables the test for the version. Without it,
  if HP6INIT determines that the version of the EPROM
  content is newer than the one of the binary file, it
  refuses to flash.

4. DOS ERRORLEVEL
  When HP6INIT utility exits with an error, it doesn't
  reboot even the "/B" switch is not present. In this
  case, HP6INIT provides an error which can be tested with
  the DOS "ERRORLEVEL" command.
  
       The errors are as follow:
  
       0    No error occurred
       1    HPINIT executable is corrupted (bad CRC)
       2    HP6INIT doesn't recognize this machine
       3    Bad argument detected
       4    Error when reading the binary file (specified
  file not
            found, or bad version)
       5    The binary file is corrupted (bad CRC or bad
  length)
       6    Bad password
       7    A write error occurred during the flash
  process
       8    Not enough memory for the binary file storage
       9    Reserved
       10   Escape key pressed
       11   Bad BIOS version (use /V switch)
       12   Emm386.exe detected
       13   Reserved to Etherlite386 with 16Mb ram.

5. MAKING THE DISKETTE'S LABEL
  Texts to be written on diskette's label are given in the
       attached "disk.txt" file in the following fields:
     * Title
     * Subtitle
     * Version
     * Copyright 1
     * Copyright 2

  Example :
