EFFECTIVE DATE: October 3, 2007

DESCRIPTION: Firmware for the Hewlett-Packard
               Integrated Lights-Out 2 Management Controller.

NOTE: iLO 2 v1.42 is a standard feature enhancement/bug fix release and does not require the purchase of a licensed feature upgrade. The current feature set available on the management processor will remain intact after installing this firmware.

NEW FEATURES:
    None

NEW SUPPORT:
Microsoft Windows Hardware Error Architecture (WHEA)
iLO2 supports the 'Error Record Persistence' feature of the WHEA architecture.
This allows the Windows Operating System to save and retrieve hardware error records to/from battery-backed non-volatile storage (NVRAM).
This improves hardware error diagnosis by allowing otherwise un-loggable events to be retrieved upon next OS boot to be reviewed and logged to operating system logs.

Problems fixed from last release:
Fixed an issue that could cause possible VSP data loss when displaying to the screen
Corrected Licensing requirements for Select License users using shared remote console / play back
Fixed an issue that could cause a possible hang when installing Windows Server 2003 on a blade a server if a VSP client is not connected.

DOCUMENTATION -

1. iLO 2 User Guide and Lights-Out Scripting Guide can also be found by
    following the links at:

on the question mark in the upper right-hand corner of each page.

HOW TO USE -

1. Download the appropriate iLO 2 Online Firmware Update Component for your
    operating system.

2. Install the firmware using one of these options:

    a) Run the Component on the host to be updated.
The component will update the iLO 2 firmware and reset the iLO 2 processor.

    b) Extract the firmware from the component. This will place the firmware
image file, iLo2_yyy.bin (where yyy represents the firmware version) in
the target directory. You now have these options:

       i) Login to iLO 2, navigate to the Update Firmware page, and update the
            firmware from there.

ii) Use the HP Lights-Out Configuration Utility, CPQLOCFG, and RIBCL/XML
scripts to update iLO 2 across the network.

iii) Use the HP Online Lights-Out Configuration utility, HPONCFG, and
RIBCL/XML scripts to update iLO 2 from the supported host OS.
