INSTALLING THE DX5 FORCEFX DRIVERS ---------------------------------- Before installing this driver, you must remove all previous versions of driver called "ForceFx5 Joystick with IForce (Serial). First open the Game Controllers Control Panel and make sure this is not selected. Next, open the System from the Control Panel and select the Device Manager tab. Double-click on "Sound, video and game controllers". If "ForceFx5 Joystick with IForce (Serial)" appears below, remove it. Also run the cleanup utility delFXKey.exe, which will delete registry keys installed by previous versions of the Force FX driver. Reboot your computer. You are now ready to perform a clean installation of the DX5 Force FX Driver. To install the drivers, you must run "Add New Hardware" from the Control Panel. Select no when it asks if you want to search for new devices. Then select "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" from the list. When you are prompted for the device, select the have disk button. Enter the location of the .INF file in this directory and finish the installation. There are four different .INF files that correspond to different hardware configurations. Once the location of the .INF files has been given, you will be able to choose from the following list of drivers: ForceFX DX5 Joystick Only ForceFX DX5 Joystick & Rudder ForceFX DX5 Joystick & Throttle ForceFX DX5 Joystick Rudder & Throttle Pick the selection which matches the equipment to be used. For machines that might have different configurations from time to time, all four drivers can be added to the games control list one at a time. If there are any future driver updates, they can be found on Immersion's web site at http://www.force-feedback.com. TESTING YOUR SOFTWARE --------------------- You should be able to use I-FORCE Studio to test if your device is working properly. In I-FORCE Studio, open "SAMPLES.IFR" from the File Menu, double- click on one of the sample effects, and click on the start button if required. The ForceFX device will support some STANDARD DX5 EFFECTS including: 1) Square Waves 2) Constant/Vector Forces 3) Spring ConditionDownload Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
