[SECTION 1: Driver Overview]

The Quatech Device Manger for Windows NT is a utility designed to allow users to install hardware,
view installed hardware, and view or modify hardware resource settings. The setup program for the
Quatech Device Manager also installs (disabled) the hardware drivers required to use Quatech's ISA,
PCI, and PCMCIA serial communications products in Windows NT. These drivers are enabled as needed
when a Quatech hardware device is installed with the utility.

The Quatech Device Manager utility also works with Quatech's USB to Serial adapters and ThinQ SDS
(Serial Device Sever) products. Drivers for the USB and ThinQ SDS products must be installed seperately
from the utility. If you run the setup for the Quatech Device Manager off of a "USB Support for Windows NT"
cd, the USB driver setup will launch automatically at the end of the Quatech Device Manager installation.
SDS ThinQ devices are installed via the "ThinQ Install Wizard" located on the "ThinQ Serial Device Server"
CD and will likewise automatically launch the Device Manager install following the SDS installatin and
subsquentially the USB Driver install at which time the option can be taken to continue or not install the
USB dirvers.

For full information on using the Quatech Device Manager for Windows NT, please see the online
User's Manual included with the product. Start the device manager program by either its shortcut installed
to the desktop, or from the shortcut in the "Start" menu under Quatech. To access the electronic help,
click the "?" icon in the top right corner of the utilities main window, and then click anywhere inside
the main window. The User's Manual may also be accessed from within the WinNT "Start" menu.

[SECTION 3: Installing the Utility & Driver Set]

The Quatech Device Manager for Windows NT is currently distributed on the sources listed below.
* Quatech USB Driver Support CD
* Quatech Communication Products Drivers & Manuals CD
* Quatech ThinQ Serial Device Server CD
* Online at http://www.quatech.com

If your installing off either of the first two CD distributions, simply run "Setup.EXE" from the Windows NT
drivers directory, on the ThinQ CD the Setup.EXE can be found in the "Device Manager subfolder under the
"ThinQ" main folder. The setup program will install the NT Device Manager utility, and the drivers
required to use any of the ISA, PCI, or PCMCIA devices listed in Section 2 above. The Device Manager
setup program will start the USB driver setup automatically when it finishes if you are running off
the Quatech USB Driver Support CD or the ThinQ SDS CD.

The Quatech Device Manager for Windows NT utility is distributed online as a self extraction EXE file
named "NTDeviceManager.EXE". To install or update an existing installation, download "NTDeviceManager.EXE"
and execute the file. The file will decompress and automatically launch the same setup program
which the CD version has.
