Quatech FreedomUSB device firmware change history Last updated: March 2005 ================================================================================================== Release 4.11 March 2005 * Changed the transmit disable mode so that it doesn't use a timer but turns off at the earliest moment possible after the last character is tranmitted. Release 4.10 February 2005 * Modifed ISR and other settings to fix bug resulting in missed interrupts and incorrect LSR escape status sequences that manifested itself on reconnects with live data streams. * Added escape sequence for transmit byte count status messages enabling the Windows driver to know when the "box" is empty of all pending characters, a feature that some applications find desirable. Backward compatable with older driver in that the sequence is only acitivated by Windows driver 5.7 and above. Release 4.05 - September 2004 * Fixed bug to correctly handle rare "no status" escape sequence splitting across packets, followed by another single special sequence character in the data. Release 4.04 - August 2004 * Added support for limiting the UART transmit load count. This allows applications very sensitive to flow control response time to stop transmitting quickly by ensuring that the UART's transmit FIFO is always near empty. Most users will not want to limit the load count because doing so will adversely affect throughput. * Fixed a bug in escape sequence processing that occasionally caused an errant status indication to be sent to the device driver. Our Windows device drivers tolerated this bug well, so it is not expected that many users have ever noticed it. The bug was found during development of the OS/2 device drivers. * Implemented a workaround for boot time hangs on certain newer notebook computers. The BIOS on these computers does not properly handle powerup and reset of devices attached to hubs. This problem affected the ESU-100/200/300 and HSU-100/200/300, which contain internal hubs. * Streamlined the device configuration descriptors for the DSU-100/200/300 and QSU-100/200/300 products. The changes are backward compatible with all existing device drivers, and allow for better compatibility with some operating systems other than desktop Windows. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Release 4.03 * Fixed a bug that occasionally caused the firmware to crash if an application frequently read the baud rate and line control registers while transfering serial data. This bug typically manifested itself as a stuck application or as the device "disappearing." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Release 4.02 * Fixed a bug that caused active traffic on port 1 to fail when another port was opened. * Fixed a string descriptor problem on DSU-200/300 and QSU-200/300. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Release 4.00 * Support for resident firmware added. This eliminates the bootloader drivers for hardware versions supporting resident firmware. * Added string descriptors for manufacturer, product, and serial number.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
